Three years ago and I just picked up one used but not abused. I got 3 different planes from the same person for $150. All older but decent planes and two were like brand new. The person was getting out of the hobby. Nice review. I like hearing your reviews, very informative.

I've been a huge fan of the P-51 since the first time I saw one. But I've never been able to decide which I like better... the 'razor back' design of the B and C models or the bubble canopy style of the D through K models. The 'razor back' models have a beauty that's all their own and I'm glad people like Tower Hobbies appreciate them enough to make this version and I'm glad you enjoy it enough to choose it for a review. Also, I'm all for the '20/20' view for cars, model airplanes, etc (or what ever that saying is... "it looks great at 20 feet away going 20 mph). And I'm not a scale stickler either, but the one 'scale' complaint I have about this model is the dorsal fin that was added to the vertical stabilizer. While SOME B and C models were retrofitted with the dorsal fin (that's the section of the vertical stab that extends toward the cockpit), it was VERY rare and the 'Berlin Express' didn't have one . The "Berlin Express" is a real P-51B and can be Googled to look at actual pictures of the airplane. The kit designers put so much work and detail into this kit that I'm surprised that they missed this. I guess people just think every P-51 has the fin. But regardless, thanks for the showing us this cool model and for doing a great review (like you do in all of your videos.).

Thank you for this. I have been eyeballing this one for a while, now I think I will have to drop the hammer and get one.

Seems like it may not be the best aircraft to fly off of a grass runway unless hand launched. Awesome review! Keep up the good work.

Those gear doors are not closing all the way. Im sure that can have a adverse effect on trim.

Great Review! Could you post your dual rate and expo settings please. That would complete this review. Thank you!
@HobbyView7 жыл бұрын
Sure, but not much to post. No expo used, no dual rates on elevator just on ailerons: 100% high, 75% low.

just found your channel while researching this bird, which I have now ordered. I fly at a field with a grass runway, so is it worth picking up retracts or will it need to be thrown and belly landed anyways? also if I get retracts, should I add flaps to help with the added weight?
@HobbyView7 жыл бұрын
pjtruslow , Unless you are on putting green like grass, i'd reccomend leaving the gear off. I don't think flaps would help much for grass.

Why do r/c airplane designers never incorporate scale props into their product? enjoyed the video..........
@beeleo4 жыл бұрын
Because scale props would not work as well as a model airplane prop. They're available for display purposes but the added cost and loss of performance makes them unpractical and unrealistic for the enjoyment of the model.

No more airplane boxes! I've apparently developed an eye twitch when I see them now.. Keep them away!!

All it takes to get it to take off from grass is Bending the Main Gear Forward about 20 degrees and bending the rear Tail Wheel up some and you,ll find it Tanking off from Fairly Trimmed Grass Just Fine.. i have 3 of these planes from experience i tell you.

Bought this one thanks to you, and she flies like she is on rails. Love this plane! anyone looking for a great flying plane that won't break the bank this is it! But like he said not for grass fields unless you hand launch.
