What a great video! I liked the way you flew the plane with the cowl off first to be able to make adjustments. The P47 is a very stable and forgiving plane. You are a very down to earth person and I love your sense of humor and you just being you. Awesome job Sir.

Your narration is as great as the video. Another balancing option is to either create a compartment or attach a small container such as a pill bottle. Into either you can gradually add lead shot, steel shot, or any available hardware to any exact balance. Harbor Freight has very inexpensive hardware assortments suitable as weight. Larger Walmart stores has some similar. Tractor supply sells common nuts and bolts for $2.69 per pound for any size.

Well done, nice plane, nice build, nice video etc etc... I used to fly radio controlled helicopters 40 years ago, after graduating high school and enlisting in the military and life since I haven't been anywhere near the RC hobbies but am very tempted to get back into it, watching these videos I'm amazed at how far all of this has come. I'm looking forward to more of your videos for guidance and insight into getting back into the hobby. Very nice and keep up the good work 👍👍👍.

These kits seem so easy these days. When I was young we had to use so many bulkheads and stringers epoxied and pinned to actually build the fuselage and wings. Now it seems so easy. Very tempting.

Outstanding video and channel! I've been working my way through your videos since stumbling upon them and they have been very entertaining. Your videos remind me of the hobby programs (generally model railroading but a bit of RC as well) that used to air on PBS when I was a kid. Informative and genuine - enthusiastic presentations showcasing model aviation. Thank you for creating and sharing such quality content.

Thank you very much for the post of this fanatical video with a lot of information. I like to look at your "posts" because I find the way of your presentation incredibly relaxed. No excessive fuss and shouting but very pleasant. By the way, you have a very nice voice and the models you choose are always up-to-date. Thank you for all this and I hope you will make many more videos.

Really appreciate your video! I have the same model running a tacon110 electric motor. With two 6-cell 4000 milliamp batteries in series, Castle creation 80 amp high voltage speed controller with external battery for receiver. Apc prop 15/8 (not thin ecectric) Had to set throttle stop at 65% to keep from destroying this airplane. Unlimited vertical performance. 7 minutes flight time at half throttle. Very nice flyer. Nice to see a new video on this model! Thanks again!

Nice plane. As a small engine mechanic, the burbling drove me nuts. I know its a new engine and probably set up a bit rich. I love the new 4 strokes. No mess of oil everywhere. I was suprised at how much weight it took to balance it but thats what it took then thats what it took. Its best to use more epoxy when gluing on those horns than not enough. Good thing you caught that!

If you want faster starting keep your ignition turned off and on a cold engine take two fingers and plug the exhaust port and flip the engine over 2-3 times. It will prime it. Then turn your ignition on and give it a flip. Also those servo horns are scary. I wouldn't trust them. I would want them pinned from the other side or some way to keep them captured. There will be a lot of force on the control surface with that size model. If it has any flutter those are going to give. To pricey of a plane to not take the extra precaution. The extra lead weight in the nose may have been avoided if the ignition system was mounted to the front of the firewall under the cowl (assuming there was enough space to keep it hidden). Less dead weight=better especially on a warbird.

Is there any concern that the holes drilled in the engine mount for those cg weights might become a weak spot due to engine torque or vibration? I'm not a RC pilot..... but just curious. Great looking plane and I enjoy your commentary on all your videos. Keep up the good work!

Nice video I would suggest putting a little c a glue in the screw holes for the servos and any screws that go into would put a couple of drops of fast drying CA put the screw in type of Servo down then remove a screw with a couple of drops of c a glue in and then reinstall servos with the screws secondly I would use a. For fueling rather than have the fuel line hanging. Looks a lot more professional and completes the mod thirdly revenue's a chicken stick which can be quite dangerous I would use an electric starter but I personally use is a remote electric starter started building behind the engine very inexpensive and work extremely well you can also fly kill the engine in flight and restart it while you're flying people are impressed with that had that happen anyway other than that great video

You need to take that P47 and give it Red Tail insignia. 15,562 sorties and only 25 bomber losses to fighters and ground fire, 95 Distinguished Service Crosses, 261 confirmed kills including 3 German 262 jets in one day. That earned the 332nd the Distinguished Unit Citation. My former boss Gordon Marshall owner of Marshall Electronics and Namesake to USC’s Marshall School of Business flew 86 missions as a pilot in a B-24s. He told me it was a great comfort to look out his window and see the red tails. He knew they would stay with the bombers and not chase fighters. And if Gordon Marshall said that he meant it. So paint the pilot brown get out the air brush and make a tribute plane. And before they got P-51s they flew the P-47s, P-39 Airacobras and B-25 Mitchells. Please make a tribute plane. Who wouldn’t want to fly a Red Tail tribute plane.

First flight a BIT nose heavy not such a bad idea. Better to work it tailward in increments, especially if you want it to be a BIT aft/twitchy for snappy aero, a little too much and it will get twitchy alright! Gyro, or are you really that smooth? "Bit a right trim, again...that's interesting" YEAH, In my experience far more interesting than you demonstrated here. I would ALWAYS bring a plane down and check over the controls if trim changed for "no" reason. Here you had a bit of one (cowling config change) but still, better safe than sorry...especially with the glue failure you experienced building it on the one elevator horn. Looks like a heap o' fun. "It survived Jeff's grubby hands"...and an LOL from Jeff. Watching your installation work, I can see why people have you finish these ARFs out for them. Using the chicken stick is a GREAT idea, if you've ever seen a hand that has come in contact with one of those props badly enough to stop it at high RPM, you would grossly underestimate the damage. It is BAD!
