Known to many as the “Crying Indian,” Oscar “Iron Eyes” Cody had a successful career portraying Native Americans in more than 200 films and countless television shows over his 64-year career, culminating in one of the most famous and successful ad campaigns of all time in which he was depicted as a Native American shedding a tear over the rampant littering problem in America. Ironically, however, Cody was actually the son of two Italian immigrants to the United States.

I pray the folks in the pop-up campers have heat - Prayers for all in Appalachia. See lots of vehicles destroyed. It would be nice if folks could donate a vehicle to those who lost theirs in the floods. Shelter is something else - these folks need warm places to live - it's cold now in the mountains. If folks have unused campers for the winter, consider lending one to someone who is sleeping in a tent - We are NC Strong!!

The debris setting in front of homes is only part of their hardship. They need the inside of the home dried out then replace everything besides furniture and belongings. Business needs to be rebuilt not only for the owner but for jobs and people to shop. Government wake up! They can’t do it with a few dollars sent their way if they qualify or your low cost loans that they need to repay.
@zannaswann5836Ай бұрын
Some of that "debris" is actually homes and property that rushed down the mountains in landslides as well as floated down. Similar to those cars, they weren't all parked like a junkyard. The spray paint isn't graffiti - it's checking off homes with no occupants alive or otherwise. I read water came rushing in an instant down the mountains at a force 3x or 5x greater than Niagra Falls ripping, carrying and dumping anything in its path. With landslides, it became mud like wet cement carrying things, people and pets.

@zannaswann5836Ай бұрын
My understanding (NC resident with family throughout that region), is the numbers are those properly identified and families contacted. Over the few days of the brunt of this hurricane, folks weren't necessarily carrying their identification cards, if they were, it likely washed away in deterioration. Then, folks were washed away from homes - some found a distance - even miles away or under debris or buried multiple feet deep in the wet cement-like mud. Some weren't residents. But campers or tourists as well. Going about life. These communities and their people need compassion, empathy support and supplies. Heartbreaking.
@mountaingirl8230Ай бұрын
@@zannaswann5836 I've been screaming we should have three sets of numbers. Number of dead, number of unidentified, number of missing. Even with those sets of numbers we will still miss people. Every life deserves to be accounted for. Much love to the folks in Tennessee, North Carolina & Virginia.
