Arguable point. Its a common theme in Stephen King's writings-even if they told him no and they all died, they would still have died with their conscience's clear. The epilogue reveals that even after giving him what he wanted, many of them lived miserable lives ridden with guilt.

This is one of the best movies ever. Its actually a mini series & I wish they had made it into a movie bc theirs a lot of filler to make it long enough for a few days. I've tried to get so many people to watch it with me. They watch but bc its so long every person I showed it to fell asleep. It's too bad bc the finale is really good. Unlike it where the first part with the kids is great the 2nd part with them as adults the mini series went far down hill. The ending is ridiculously bad. The ending of this is so good. I would not want an Aisle seat when linoge walks down the middle.

I LOVE comparing this ending to when Cat Withers killed her ex-bf. It showed that (as Mike said) if everyone truly believed, stood up to Linoge and told him "NO!" in one resolute voice he had no true power over them. Linoge's power was fear. And he used it to weaken the whole town to get what he wanted to this point. But in reality, as powerful as he was, he was still no match for the power of human will
@JGT021

I don't think they would have died. Linoge scares them all into thinking he can kill them with the wave of his hand. But the show drops a bunch of clues that that is definitely not the case.

He tricked them, and they tricked themselves. They didnt have the moral fortitude and character to say no to his evil proposal. Only Tim Daly did, the minority. The mob always makes the wrong decision when fear is present. Just like this pandemic...the WHO is Linoge, and we are the scared people, only a few are brave enough to say no to the mask, vaccine, etc...
@cjgameon264
@cjgameon264 Жыл бұрын
@@mtklaric that's a pretty stupd comparison, comparing Linoge to Covid. What's more stupd, especially, is saying only a few was brave enough to say "no" to a mask? You're extra stupd for that comment!! For Covid to have killed as many people as it did, wearing a mask saved a lot of people but you say bravery was "not" wearing a mask? You're stupd as hell!! I lot of people had that same exact idiotic thinking like you about "not" wearing a mask and a lot of those same exact people are in the grave because of, according to your idiotic thought process, bravery for not wearing a mask, SmMFh, lol. Now, when it comes to the Covid vaccine on the other hand? Ok, that's debatable but to say "no" in not wearing a mask was always stupd.
@mtklaric

I see this as basically steven king bringing out another one of his versions 4 horsemen. In Needful Things we have Leland Gaunt who is war. In this movie we have famine. In the Stand we have Randal Flagg who is pestilence. In It we have Pennywise as Death. Each ensnares its targets in unique ways praying on any and all weaknesses until targets sacrifice themselves in either body, mind, or soul.

Even though I study Nichiren Buddhism, this movie/series teaches one important lesson: cause & effect. These people did such ominous acts, not only did they brought it upon themselves, but the innocent paid the most price. And what's worse is that they put the youth right in the £@€%ing middle of it. If Stephen Kings teaches anything in his work, is that the monster is US. What do you KZbinrs believe?
@firework-iu5sk
@firework-iu5sk 3 жыл бұрын
1000% agree with this, Linoge represents a form of an effect caused by their sins. Most of the islanders committed horrible acts, and would never be honest about it. It represents how the cause can harm more than just you. Usually it will harm an innocent in some form. Every single Stephen King novel/movie I have seen underlies that last statement of yours, the true monster is us and our actions. Not necessarily the main villain.

He can't walk in the earth without a mortal body; thus, he needed one of the kids to do it for him. Flagg was born from a cow in 'The Stand.' He wanted Nadine to give him a son to do his work for him after he went back to hell. Randall and Andre don't have the right to walk the earth like normal people. They can only partially manifest from time to time. Compare them to Rose the Hat. The three figures survived off warped psychic energy (chaos, fear, pain, and destruction), but they only have limited time to live on earth.

Linoge seems hypocritical if he is some kind of punisher, their children are innocent at least, aren't they? Also, did they ever consider another thing, that if they didn't give him a child (since it seems like it took him 400 years since Roanoke to find another suitable group) he may not be able to find/coerce another group of bad people to give him one before he dies. It seems like he can't just adopt one, that would be easier.

Do we actually believe that he could have killed them all if they told him No ??

I believe he would vanish if the said no. He instilled such fear in them during the whole movie just to make them submit and consent to his evil proposal. Thats the point.

then if he killed them wouldn't he had run out of time? And he wouldn't have gotten a kid because he said they had to GIVE the child to him he couldn't just take it right...so then if he was that powerful he could've just took the kid. His ass was lying 😂 I think when he was younger he probably could've but he was old af he didn't have juice left Ole Dre was out of commission 😂😂😂

I believe He tricked them with that children comatose/hypnosis display to make them choose the wrong path. Given what we saw of Linoge I hardly believe he could've whistood a hundred people attack on him, probably killed two or three but still the would've won their part and recover their town's strength plus no children harmed. What remains unknown is how he dealt with that other village cuz they indeed seem to have all disappeared. Maybe his powers enabled him to do so back then but it cost him a lot and that's why he looked so old and tired.

I never seen this show but I would figure he could of easily taken a child some time along his journeys. I wonder if he had to have the child given to him and Go through all of this in order for it all to work and for the child to be able to get powers? Idk but pretty good show. I know he's a wizard but I wonder if he has any weaknesses cause I think the town's people could of stuck together strong and thwarted his plan

@@shaunstegallify I can't even imagine what kind of abilities an immortal would have. I mean think about it to have all the time you need to learn new things. Here's a Scenario.....Anton Linoge centuries ago finds an immortal. Anton asks the immortal teach him magic but used the immortals teachings for selfish gains this angers the immortal Anton escapes then collapses the mountain the immortal lives under the immortal is trapped under it until the immortal finally digs out then begins searching for Anton Linoge to undo or make right all that Anton did with his teachings. But this would happen after Mike sees Ralphie with Anton Linoge walking past him. But that's just my theory.

It's never actually clear if he was behind the deaths of the people on Roanoke Island or not. There's no real indication that he was responsible for that. It could've all been a trick, you know? When he tried to get that guy to killed his girlfriend, he was able to overcome his control and didn't do it. So I think it would be hard for him to control about 200 people and get them to kill themselves.

That's what he wants them to think to make them more afraid. I don't think he had as much power as he wanted people to think he had, that's why he made them so afraid, so he could get what he wanted.
