I've been struggling to find my footing in the game since OTS became standard for competitive play and it was exciting to get a strong result that I really wasn't expecting. I'm curious why you settled on Light Screen over Reflect on the Grimmsnarl. It's a very physical-heavy meta right now, but I assume it covers what the team needs more? Is it for specific leads? Edit: I guess even just the first game answers why. I'm just always trying to fit Prankster Misty Terrain on Grimmsnarl to both cancel other terrains and also prevent status.

@@Kasaaz the main reason was I felt taunt was too valuable to give up because opposing taunt and encore can shut down a lot of what the team needs to do and having intimidate + parting shot + shelter deals really well with the physical Heavy meta

One thing I think Aaron missed here is the opportunity to side parting shot into your own Toxapex. It lets you make your switch after your opponent has moved and it's strictly superior to a hard switch.

I like that Grimmsnarl being able to run an extra support move and only use the screen the team actually needs. And QOTD, I know mixed attacking sets are hardly viable in VGC, but in closed team sheet, I feel like those kinds of strats can catch opponents by surprise. Thanks for sharing these battles, Aaron!

Yeah, the only mons I can think of that has run mixed reliably is salamence (especially mega mence) and aegislash.

Toxapex: Is terrible in doubles, as its passivity allows the opposing team to focus on its teammates and kill them. Also Toxapex: Somehow prevails in a double battle.

My favorite strategy is what I call "utility balance or utility stall." Speed control, with hazard removal. Either trick room (to reverse your opponents room) or something that functions in it. A wallbreaker. Acid spray or fake tears somewhere to apply defensive pressure. Psychic terrain and/or Farigiraf to deny priority. Edit: Aaron, I wouldn't mind your thoughts an AV Annihilape set, with U-turn and Ice Punch to pivot away from threats or out of an intimidate drop and the IP for coverage. Most EV's in HP and Def. I'd also take ANYONE's constructive criticism. It's a build I've never seen or heard talked about and I don't know if it's because it's useless or if it's not good enough to warrant real discussion.

I love seeing a one screen Grimmsnarl! Definitely a sleeper set to have some extra utility whether its another attack or taunt. If you do run into something you don't have the screen for, parting shot will do more than a screen will do (2/3 vs 3/4).

Around 1:10:20 you mention led that Tera Ghost Chi Yu couldn't switch out when hit by infestation. If trapping moves don't trap ghost types, does this also apply to pokemon that changed to ghost type? Maybe they just didn't want to switch out?

AFAIK Tera Ghost still applies the same way it would as if it were a Ghost naturally. They likely either forgot or chose not to.

My favors tech I’m running right now is specs eleki with Thunder helped by torn rain dance. With how fast eleki is, it gets quick 1 hit knock outs my opponent’s not expecting! Also cool team to watch play, but I could never play a team this slow and methodical 😅

I love H-Goodra used it at my first event in Pittsburgh. though im not sure why its minus attack nature here instead of Sp atk with the base attack at 31 IVs you can one shot alot of semi bulky flutters with heavy slam its just nice to have that comfort of knowing that in a CTS environment
