Emotional isolation has calamitous health implications, and it's becoming more prevalent in America. Why? One developmental psychologist says America's toxic masculine culture kills young boys' friendships right as boys are expected to "grow up" into men, and those loss of friendships may echo throughout men's lives.

Bethany Monges Toxic masculinity Is BS. It's not real, it's a made up term from the far left to hate on men being males. It's used as a tactic to try and make any men who has assertive Tendencies and strength of will of self dignity and character to become beta males who are Meek and week in dignity and self-respect. Perfect example soy boys. These far-left males called soyboys has shown to actually emulate more feminine Tendencies and mentality than the average male as well they've actually been tested and to be shown to actually be less furtyle with smaller sperm count than the average male.

Masculinity is not about rejecting and repressing emotions, it is about acknowledging them and dealing with them so that you still do what you need to do, for yourself and for the ones around you., instead of being paralyzed by them Masculinity is about taking action, not about blaming society and the world for your current state. What young boys need are good role models to look up to, men of character and goodwill, men that can be trusted, men that want to serve the ones around them because they care for their well-being. Men that teach young boys that if something is not working, you don't complain that the world is not fair, but you adjust your skills and you make it work. Men that teach young boys about resilience. Men that teach young boys about finding a purpose for one's skills in the service of others. Boys have to grow up into men, for themselves as well as for the ones around them, because the alternative is the loneliness and sad picture that is displayed in this clip. Sad, depressed, scared young men with no direction or purpose. If you are a young boy or a young man reading this, I wish you strength and willpower to see beyond the story that is being told and take action for yourself. You are the one responsible for how your life turns out. Build up your skills and figure out your inclinations and pursue to use those skills to serve the ones around you. Build along the way the resilience necessary to deal with the negativity that you will face and be a man with an open heart and bring up as many people as you can on your own journey. If you are a man reading this, remember that it is your duty to share your skills and knowledge with the younger men, just like someone else shared it with you in the past. Be the example for the younger generation, the example that you would look up to and live as if someone is always watching you in order to learn from you. Your actions or lack thereof will build up the next generation. All the best to you, reader!

I'm in my late sixties. I'm from the generation that this video is talking about where men are supposed to be strong. Yet, I have friends, close friends, a couple that have been friends since my early teens. We know when we're hurt but we don't talk about it unless the hurt person wants to. We're just there for each other. We sit, watch a hockey game, have a beer, talk about work, make fun of each other and we know, deep down, that what we're doing is what we need. It cures the loneliness. I can't talk my problems away. I have to live them away. All I ask from my friends is for them to be there...nothing more. When I had tough times in my life, they were there, not talking about the tough times, but just there and I appreciate that they were there, more than they could know. I try to do the same for them. Sometimes it feels as if I'm failing but every once in awhile, they do the little things that let you know that they appreciate what you, too.

@@zimbabwexx1589 Tough one. The best advice that I can give is to seek the truth. Not YOUR truth, or the popular "truth" or what you want to be true, but real truth, whether it hurts or not. It's not easy because you have to look inwards and you have to honest with yourself, as much as you should look outwards, but it's worth it. You can't make a decisions in life, that will have any value, if you haven't sought out ALL the information available to you. Be true to yourself and to others and you'll have given yourself the best opportunity to have a meaningful life. Life can be pretty tough and there's no magic bullet to prevent the bad things from happening. All you can do is arm yourself with a desire for honesty and that will help you through the bad times because they will come. That and to work hard and take responsibility for what you do, good and bad. No excuses. It's not easy but it's the best way. I didn't find inner peace until I made those things my way to live.

Well terms like toxic masculinity surely doesn’t do any favours as that would make boys feel worst about themselves. The reason why boys feel isolated is due to a total lack of empathy for their feelings and wellbeing.
@MasteryOrder

One big reason why boys are feeling like that is the lack of men role models teaching young boys not to give to much attention to labeling. If you are a man that is aware of these issues, share your message and teach other men and boys on how to embrace their masculinity. It is your duty as well as mine, because only talking and finding blame will not change the situation at all. Men are made for action. Be a man of action and see how your environment changes. Keep other men accountable for their actions and have the humility to be held accountable as well and see the results. Take pride in becoming a man of good character and other will do the same. All the best to you!

Fathers are the ones to blame for this never-ending predicament. They instil toxic masculinity in their boys from an early age, resulting in scenarios like the one depicted in this video. It is ideal if a woman just summarizes the scenario because males have done nothing to address this issue for generations, resulting in higher male suicide rates. We can clearly see that many men are miserable, therefore, why are you still so willfully blind? This is attributable to the fact that your toxic masculinity plays a significant role in this, leading you to keep everything to yourself. Remember that asking for help is completely normal and human.

@@ZARA-ws7tu Well boys who exhibit "toxic masculinity" are from single mothers homes so there is father around to be blamed. If fathers aren't around and is because feminism has removed fathers from the homes by creating a family unit comprised of only women and children while the government plays the role of "daddy." Many men are miserable and end up killing themselves is because of male disposability, which is due to being demonised and dehumanised for their masculinity as well as their own worth as a man if they fail or unable to meet the gynocentric feminist standards. Men don't open their emotions or seek is because no one cares and there's a lack of support, it's futile. Well there are MRAs (both men and women) that raises awareness of men's issues but as usual they are silenced by feminists as well as the media by claiming it's "misogynistic."
@yveje9720

Really? But masculinity is toxic. The concept. The idea that boys and men need to be a certain way because they are boys and men is what’s causing yhe issue. So long as men strive to be “masculine” they are less feeling, less intimate, and more isolated. If we could dismantle or redefine what it means to be masculine that would be helpful. Boys need to know that they don’t need to perform masculinity they can be themselves and that’s manly enough
@andrewa6625
@andrewa6625 Жыл бұрын
@@yveje9720 that is bull as masculinity is not toxic but society’s attitudes towards it is and masculinity is only “toxic” if it doesn’t meet feminist standards. You just want masculinity to be redefined by feminist standards so it’s really about men correcting their behaviours to benefit women. Men and boys are only isolated due to a lack of empathy for mens feelings and struggles as whenever they open up about their emotions and grievances, they are silenced as well as ridiculed, gaslight and receive anger.

@no no no the point of his message was the fact that by using the term toxic masculinity and the media and institutions constantly telling men they're the source of all the evils in the world and they're awful people and that the only way they can be good people again is by following their view of how men and women should be, it encourages them to stay away from people and become more emotionless because they feel like anything they say won't be taken seriously. For example whenever we see media portrayals of men they show the fathers to be weak and spineless and the mothers to be strong and doing everything else by themselves when they show men in television they are seen as evil monsters that just want to bully other people and the woman has to stand up for everyone. When you portray men in a manner that is akin to a villain how do you expect him to ever feel great about himself or to actually strive to be that true masculine person you say you want boys to be.

There's a big difference between masculinity, and toxic masculinity, and it's clear that a lot of people don't look into the real issue simply because of the term itself. Toxic masculinity focuses on the more societal expectations of men that can be quite harmful to a boy growing up. Expectations like showing no emotions, homophobia, or even fighting and bullying. These are not things that should be expected of men growing up. There's nothing wrong with being a man, just understand what defines a man is not putting on a show of toughness. What defines a man is experience, courage, responsibility, love, and pride in oneself. As long as you have those, there's no need to hide emotions, or ever worry about being tough; you're already a man no matter how you present yourself. If being tough is still a big concern to you, then trust me, if you can make it through life with a good head on your shoulder, a list of accomplishments, and while being true to yourself, you'll certainly feel like a badass by the end of it all, and you'll have the respect from those that matter.

Toxic and rabid feminism aimed at imascualtion and superiority rather than equality has led to a great portion of men learn early what is at risk materially and emotionally and decide it to engage. Toxic male behavior is coming from unhealthy expectations put on all men in addition to completely unhinged behavior in women is at fault. We even have these “equals” want men to pay for their lives - even though she has the opportunity to earn just as much as he. It’s sickening.

You all behind this war can't seem to differentiate between bad behavior on the part of a few men and the rest of us males who DO behave and are respectful of women and each other. Exactly. If one day you're giving chest bumps with your bowling team mates, and then the next day your dad dies and you can't tell anyone about it, of course that's bad. But I don't think that actually happens. I think what happens is that women don't see men hugging each other tenderly and they assume there's a lack of connection. Nope. It's just not how men are. That's how women are. So the obvious conclusion is that women need to give that to men rather than complain that we're being "toxic" when we don't give that to each other. If a man is going through a hard time, it means the world to have a woman's emotional insight and gentle touch. Yet here NBC is throwing the responsibility of taking care of men SOLELY on men, further perpetuating the pressure put on men to take care of everything.

As Iam roughly the same age as this 23 yo there are some thoughts coming to my head. In my opinion one big part or reason of this issue of loneliness is also the rise of the social media within the last decade. When I remember my early youth 12-15 I felt very connected to my male friends and having a really good relationship with them. Honest, open, creative, talking and sharing. This has somewhat changed when social media has become the main outlet for what people share with their friends. I mean yes, I still have some deep friendships that are still the same, but overall it got less and less with the years.. Is there anyone else feeling this way or could give some additional talking points to this topic?

My feelings are on board. Male friendships have become a rarity due to technological advances. Not to mention that married men are confined by fatherhood, marriage, and employment which makes it inevitable to sustain a healthy male companionship. Platforms like media, television, etc have mastermind the manipulation of both genders, with repercussions toward masculinity indefinitely.
