@VictorJoseph-lu2rs7 ай бұрын
😂😂😂, average uncle bob clean code enjoyer
@LiveType7 ай бұрын
This hits a little close too home as quite literally 2 hours ago I was hunting down where a count query was made. I counted and ended up 17 functions deep 4 files out. After a few hours looking through everything it made sense why it was the way it is. It could absolutely do with a rewrite that strips away ~60% of the code but I'm certainly not going to be the one that does that. That's somebody else's problem. And the cycle continues.

Regretfully you are 100% on point. I was once a toxic fanboy. I am a nvim/rust/nixos guy and I love it. Being enthusiastic about some tool or lang can deeply influence engineering decisions. My friend kept saying to me "it depends" and it wasn't until I saw some horrible Rust that I had to fix until my eyes were opened. There is no best tool/lang/editor. There is an appropriate choice for the problem space in front of you. Closing your mind to new things or different workflows is just bad. It has been a freeing experience because now I see, it doesn't matter. If you solve the problem your way then that's good enough. Everything has a strength and weakness learning more of them will enhance you ability to solve more complex problems in the future. Thanks for keeping me humble bigbox P.S Rust > C++ all day, not C though, C is perfect

It's also a bit smothering - it makes you feel like being a fan of anything is cringy and lame. Don't get me wrong, I see that there are even a few self-deprecating jokes in the vid. But the overall vibe is not chill, it presents a restrictive and overly negative way of thinking (mb the author is overly critical of himself too?).
