@@michaelmecham3477 Isn’t it just bewildering? I don’t understand how “those in charge” justify letting things get to that point. I’d imagine that people, especially children and those with underlying health conditions, could end up incredibly ill, or, even worse, it could be fatal. I’m sure that those people don’t think the loss of this pet doesn’t mean much, but he wasn’t just some fish. Loomster was family, a friend, and very loved. It’s terrible to think that he passed away because doing repairs was looked at by those in charge as a waste of funding, too time consuming, or just not important enough to act on. It’s incredibly sad.

Not sure of your location but after working for the city and county water departments in average America, it’s really hit and miss. So much of our infrastructure is well beyond its intended use time wise, some neighborhoods still have lead pipes, some are galvanized steel that is flaking off because of its age, some have pvc. Regardless of the neighborhood and even the houses particular situation, some major parts of the supply system are also contributing and nobody wants to shut down a working systems to fix things that aren’t totally broken yet. Another thing to remember is that published public water supply tests are done at the source, that is, they are testing the water as it leaves the pump house, before it travels through unknown miles of unknown plumbing made of materials of all ages. After that journey, it’s not exactly the same so you definitely want to test at your own home and COMPLAIN if something is wrong!! The government is reactionary in nature, they only fix what people complain about and if nobody complains, they have no problem letting quiet tax paying people suffer.
@Throrma3 жыл бұрын
Yeah... it's not only in the usa... same here. Once there was a broken pipe in front of my house and the stuff was coming out the whole night. They partly fixed it but it was broking again and again day after day but like a week after they finally fixed it really. But they just fixed a half meter where the pipe was broken, the rest of the rust stayed there. And I had to buy bottled water for weeks because black and brown peaces comt out from the tap and the water is still not the stame. It was months before. I don't really know but I guess some bacteries can go in to the pipe when it's broken and can stays there.

Where I live, we found out that the municipal water table for two counties was contaminated with carcinogens. Loomster will always be alive in our hearts. I went through this exact issue a few years ago. Killed all of my shrimp and betas. If I were you, which I’m not and take or leave my suggestion as you will, I would immediately buy a reverse osmosis filter. I get pure water about 1-2 ppm out of my 5 stage. You can use a post filter for ph balance and/or if you wanted to add minerals back but not necessary at all. They cost around $100 and the filters are about $40 every 6months to a year. The only maintenance is draining the holding tank when you’re returning from out of town or haven’t used water from it for a few days to avoid stale water (ro filter removes all chlorine)

The depth allows for anaerobic bacteria and a whole bunch of other organisms to break down organics before the organics can build up. Contaminates can enter the water if there's only an inch or less of cap over a dirt base. Check out the Father Fish channel for info on dirt combined with deep substrate. I can't fault you for not wanting or being able to make videos after such a catastrophic failure that was, honestly out of your hands. Failing municipal infrastructure shouldn't be a concern, especially regarding lead and other toxic metals. Adding on to the pressures having a little bit of public success gives you, especially pertaining to animals, were anyone can accuse you of neglect, regardless of whether they've even kept a fish before. I know it's been awhile since this happened, but I hope you've done alright through it. Even if you don't make videos anymore, I hope that all your remaining animals live happily with you to their natural lifespans. So sad. Sorry this happened. Got me wondering how many other pet fish passed away from this and how many people and other pets were drinking that water. Fish owners put so much love and effort into their fish. It sucks when they die. Had one die on my a few weeks ago because of a faulty heater. Broke my heart.

Thats so heartbreaking. And it makes me grateful to live in a place where i drive 20min to an pristine water fount or for what its worth can drink my Tab water without concern that I may get poisoned. I hope you and your fish recover fine from this. Keep it up!
