Toxrill's ability triggers at the beginning of the end step putting -1/-1 on all the zombos and then they would die at the end of turn due to Tombstone Stairwell's effect so you'd be getting all those slugs!

@@UncommonCommander Oh yeah! "Beginning of the End Step" is what solidifies it. Otherwise I think you could choose the order of end of turn triggers so it still might technically work. Great deck though! Definitely hoping to pull a Toxrill so I can build it.

This vid earned the scribe, had me laugh a couple times:) ive been wanting to build toxirill but dont have some of the synergy cards- i do however have a ton of ramp, graveyard savior cards, protection equips, things that make all my creatures into slugs and clone effects. Feeling slimey, a bit grimey and interested in languishing the battlefield!

Since this video is a year old maybe you could suggest some more cards for this deck that you would add to it today? I would be thinking of Phyrexian Fleshgorger since it has quite the synergy with the resurrection spells...

I really like this deck list, obviously a bit outdated but off the top of your head is there any card printed recently that are must haves here? (I.e. Maha, or massacre girl known killer)

Sorry, I haven't really been keeping up on the newest cards. I only recently got back into brewing at all after a 3-year hiatus from MTG altogether, and those decks I've brewed recently have just been for the enjoyment of myself and my friends. I will say this, though: I would not play Toxrill at my table, as the card goes against my own deckbuilding philosophies I've accumulated in the years since (and even a little at the time). I built this deck mostly because I thought Toxrill was a neat concept for the dimir colors, but it is also overly oppressive and makes you an instant target. In that vein, including Maha would be just fine, as it fits right into that style of card. Maha will be removed instantly, just as Toxrill will. If you load your deck with bombs like that, it'll be hard for opponents to remove them all. It will, however, also make you the Big Bad Evil Guy every time you pull out the deck, and you'll need to be ready to play 3v1.

@@UncommonCommander haha no problem dude, glad to hear you got back into brewing tho. I only play with close friends whom I hate, so no problem there! plus my main commander is tergrid so theres not that much lower to sink...

So tombstone stairwell and toxrill both say "at the beginning of each end step" so you can stack the triggers so the slime counters go on before the zombies die.

Right on. I wasn't quite sure how the priority there would work (is it mine, or my opponents?), but it's nice to get confirmation. Such a cool card. I think I may have to put it into my personal build.

@@UncommonCommander I definitely did! That card is a house! Also, I think lifeline would be a good fit, its similar to endless whispers but people get to keep their same creatures (sadly it's also not at ALL budget).

What do you think about Phyrexian Infiltrator in this deck? I've been trying to find a home for him for awhile and I think he'd add an interesting theft element to this deck

You just mentioned one of my pet cards. I run the Infiltrator in Aminatou to permanently steal things with it. I actually like it for Toxrill, too. If you add in more reanimation, I think it could give you a nice loop where you steal a creature with it, let it die to Toxrill's counters, and then reanimate it to do it all over again. That would be neat!

Slugs don't have feet. ;) I'm assuming you're talking about Lightning Greaves and the such? Honestly, it was years ago I built this deck, so I can only guess at this point, but it probably had to do with the $75 budget.

Yo I am new to mtg and have looked at some decks. This one seems the most fun to me. But no matter what deck i choose to buy it always says that TCGplayer doesnt have half of the cards I want. Even if i select the damaged options and everything. Could you please recommend me a shop to buy magic cards online if not TCG? Really annoying that they never have all the cards of any deck i checked for...

Sure. I'm quite partial to Card Kingdom. They also may not have all the cards you want, but between the two of them they probably will. Card Kingdom also delivers them as a single shipment, which is nice.

It's roughly $2 price tag pushed it out of the budget. Happens to good cards each video. If you've got one, it's worth inclusion!
