Five Nights at Freddy's has no shortage of animatronic eye candy... now. In the beginning there was Toy Chicken, a newly enhanced version of Chica the Chicken who quickly gained traction, and a bit of a reputation. But is this reputation earned? Perhaps there's more to Toy Chica than meets the eye. A plethora of dark secrets surround her, so it's time to dig into her skeleton filled closet and get to the bottom of it.

Notes that for the Dream theory, the toy chica missing her beak isn't the only thing you can see: -There's a kid who looks like Balloon boy(that and the fun with Balloon boy minigun was actually planned to be shipped for release) -The shadow animatronics, wich are just the shadows of Fredbear and Sping Bonnie. -The broken mangle toy in the girl's room, wich explain her appearence in fnaf 2 -Out of all the Crying Child's plushes, the Foxy one is missing his head. Akin to how Foxy is out of order in Fnaf 1 -Children making fun of the Crying Child spread rumors about animatronic roaming around at night and hiding your body without telling anyone. -And employee in purple helping a colleague dressing in a suit. Wich explains purple guy's existance in the first place. In fnaf 4, he's not a killer, but the Crying Child thinks he his (Note, up untill Sister location, The Afton familly wasn't a thing yet, Afton didn't existed yet. Mike Smith and him weren't related in any ways, he wasn't the Crying Child's brother who also had nothing to do with "Who he thinks is a killer") In Dream Theory, fnaf 1 to 3 are just imagined by the troubled mind of the Crying Child during the week before the bite. Fnaf 4's nights happening during the week where he is in coma at the hospital The Dream Theory also explains the nightmares in a way, they are metaphores, representing his fears that he has to fight and conquer to move on to the afterlife: freddy bonnie chica and foxy are his brother and his friends. Nightmare Fredbear represents Fredbear, aka what kills him. Nightmare represents death, straight up. Taking the form of his worse nightmare or something along the line. As for Plushtrap, he's just a plush who a girl uses to makes fun of the Crying Child.

There are a lot of holes in dream theory even in just the first 4 games. Here's a list of why dream theory doesn't work: Phone dude using more modern colloquialisms that wouldn't have existed in 1983 or 1987. The fact that the crying child wouldn't know what work wages were in the 80's and 90's. Why would crying child associate with the guards rather than the kids because he saw purple guy help someone into a suit if he believes that they contain the souls of dead children? How would he think of a springlock suit even as a concept? Almost everything in the second and third games. Why would phone guy be a reoccurring character in his dreams? Why are the animatronics always normal looking except for Spring Trap? How would he understand the technology of the animatronics? How would crying child see the animatronics as bad when he says, "These are my friends."? Why wouldn't he see the animatronics as nightmares in his dreams all the time? Why would he imagine the way the animatronics are destroyed by purple guy? Why would he imagine the souls being freed? You get what I'm saying here? It's a fun exercise for an au, but as primary canon it would be easier to list what isn't wrong with dream theory. I can guarantee you dream theory was NEVER the original intent but somewhere along the way something got lost in translation, especially if Sister Location was already being planned.

@@thunderstudent there is indeed a lot of holes here, truth to be told I have no idea what was the role of the fredbear plush back then. Yet the proof still holds really well that somehow this is the original intention. I think Scott realised pretty lately before the release of the game that this conclusion to the story was way too random and unsatisfying. People liked the ghost story more, so did I, it's presumed to be one of thoses reasons the bite changed from 87 to 83 aside from Scott creating two bites by acident (By the way, the hidden phone call is the very one who talks about the bite of 87, it's not random, it has it's use.) As for Sister location. It was originaly sold to us a fresh new start. A brand new sci-fy story set in the fnaf universe. We where expecting brand new. And we did got brand new. A complete rewriting of the orginal story with new characters and deep lore. I completely understand why a lot of people are sceptical of the Dream theory, it's ridiculous. Especially coming from Scott himself. But there's way to much evidence, yet, as you said, to many holes as well. There's an excellent French youtuber called Captain Hype who went into further details than I could with this. He made four videos based on the original games with a rather intresting approch: when analysing a game, he only takes into account what that game and the ones prior give us, why? Cause sibce Scott hadn't made any plans and imagined the story as it went. There's multiples ways of solving fnaf. Because each games give you informations that no longer works for the ones after. Like for instance purple guy being the phoneguy. Dosn't work anymore, but wasn't far from the truth back in 2014. The story changed and evolved multiples times, and It will continue to do so. All we need is to realise it and then we can start solving the lores.

I love how Toy Chica didn’t stay the “sexy chicken” and became her own character. So many FNAF characters get sidelined or forgotten about, but Toy Chica climbed the ranks and became a pretty significant animatronic in the series and is still being paid homage to especially in Security Breach.

If these do parallel to William's luring methods, it's likely he got completely careless with Cassidy and let himself completely brutalize her. in terms of the "surviving through mermaids" segment, I think the cutouts are actually of Toy Chica as a siren, as in that one mythical creature that looks like a beautiful mermaid and sings while on rocks to trick sailors into sailing into the rocks to follow the beautiful voice. This fits Toy Chica's methods to a T, she lures unsuspecting people in with her appearance and kills them once they get close enough.

I think it's really interesting that Toy Chica has been the center of a few significant points in the series. From 4 to UCN it seems to be implying that, retcon or not, she may be important character either way. But my favorite bit about her is that she's been a psycho from the beginning. The fact that she would take off her own facial features like that says something's messed up in there. Her dialogue in UCN and the High School cutscenes further evidence this.

Dream Theory was 100% correct and then Scott did the right thing and retconed it to oblivion. People like to throw around retcon like it's an inherently bad thing, but like jumpscares I think it's something that can be used really well, but is frequently mishandled. Sometimes the author's original intent or vision of a property is disappointing or even straight up bad, and being able to recognize 'This twist I wrote in makes the whole franchise kindda feel pointless, maybe I should try a new approach going forward' Is I think a good thing for a writer to be able to recognize. Ahh, Toy Chica. Arguably the first FNAF character folks openly simped for. I do like that she went from just being eye-candy to an important character lore-wise. Toy Chica's high school years haunt me and the theory that she's a stand-in for Afton makes it even more cursed. Also, since there was a mention of some of the story retcons in this video, I would be interested in seeing a video going over how the FNAF story has been rewritten over the years! I feel like the fact that the story pretty clearly got altered as the games released is something a lot of people don't acknowledge. I'd be interested in one day hearing what the original plans were (if there were any) and how + why they were changed, but I doubt we'll ever learn that.

I was in college when fnaf came out and around fnaf 4 I stopped seeing the story due to life getting in the way. To me at the time all I knew was that the kid in 4 is the bite of 87. Springtrap was the child killer and some of the animatronics were possessed. I saw dream theory also but didn’t put much thought into it. I came back to fnaf after seeing some of the vhs tapes and seeing the story post-sister was awesome. I really hope the story and games get darker again.

Classic Chica was already outdated by FNaF 2’s time, and had to be brought back for original FNaF out of financial necessity. Classic Chica got phased out again for the same reason she got canned the first time. A new and different direction was desired. Funtime and glam rock Chica mimic the direction of the ‘87 toy Chica because FNaF 1 Chica was a necessary back-step, not a permanent move.

Toy chica feels to me like a happy accident. She started with the base aspect of having a very feminine body shape that becomes grotesque when she hunts you, to the seductive black widow of a character. I feel that in regards to her missing beak, it's not so much that she "bit" someone, but rather that there is this sensation that she had it in her hand as an edged weapon that she slammed into "your" head like an ice pick when she jumped you.

15:10 in my mind that might actually be a hint towards how Henry captured the Puppet. The house on fire thing may refer to how after the fire of Fazbear’s Frights (location which we know contained the actual Puppet through an easter egg) Henry sent Lefty to capture Charlie once she was out of the burning building… Hostages could mean souls, no? That’s why the Puppet was there. And “right into his arms” seems like the perfect metaphor for how the Marionette got caught. I dunno, just a cool little theory I cooked up. thats the theory i always believed in. they are called "TOY-animatronics" after all. the original animatronics arent called "Plushie-animatronics", likely cause they predated the plushies, which were based on the animatronics. if the toy animatronics werent based on the action figures, wouldnt they be more likely be called "plastic animatronics" or something? itd make sense if someone looked at the action figures and thought "hmm, those look easier/cheaper to clean than the decaying fursuits"

I mean, UCN was made by Scott as one of his many 'finals' to the series, so I doubt he got THAT wrong. XD A lot of stuff nowadays is being discredited by just proclaiming Fazbear Entertainment lied about it, but if we're to assume that every game was just a construct of FazEnt and none of the story (except SB) is important... then what's even the point of the franchise? Like Game Theory's Dark Revival theory: "The whole story is a lie because here's my story instead."

@@notrealnamenotatall2476 I was just going based on how the characters in-universe would know the Puppet which ideally would be how Fazbear Entertainment wishes them to be seen. Granted I wouldn't doubt Scott having gone back on some ideas given 4's box and the initial status of SL. My understanding is that only 1-4 and SL are games in-universe created by a "complete lunatic (lawsuits pending)" so whatever bits of lore Pizza Sim, UCN, and World would contain should still be canon events until something else needs retconning. Most likely those previous games are just as canon as the Silver Eyes trilogy. Like Scott said; "The games and the books should be considered to be separate continuities, even if they do share many familiar elements. So yes, the book is canon, just as the games are. That doesn't mean that they are intended to fit together like two puzzle pieces." So yes, we may be dealing with a multiverse so some details won't match up exactly between the various forms of media. Granted, I've not kept up with the franchise outside of a few analysis videos of SB, LS Mark's video reviewing all the books, and your content. Haven't even seen MatPat's content since before SB with the reveal of Cassidy if memory serves me.

There was a RyeToast theory that William framed henry for the MCI and henry went to prison for several decades which is why he's so absent throughout the series, since fnaf 1 says that the killer was convicted. But then maybe by the time fnaf 3 and 6 role around Springtrap reemerging was able to prove William was the killer and henry was innocent and let out

The role of the mermaid seems right for the character. Mermaids, in most fairy-tales are salutary seductresses who drown ships of people just by using their spellbinding beauty and hypnotic singing voices alone. Personally, with the mermaid part of this video, I immediately thought of a siren. sirens modernly look like mermaids, and with Toy Chica's behavior, luring people in with her looks then making them another victim of hers, sounds a lot like a siren. plus, if I remember correctly, Cawthon never specified if it is a siren or a mermaid, we just assumed. if it is supposed to be a siren, that's an interesting detail.

I remember the FNAF 4 beak comment throwing everyone (myself included) for a loop when it was first said. Was it ever theorized or confirmed if the Toy models were partially haunted because they used parts of the original haunted animtronics? If so, then Chica's line from UCN about being the first would mean that Toy Chica shared her spirit and was also the first. If Toy Chica's high school plot mirror's Afton's killings, Susie having a different lure from the others makes sense if she was the first; Afton was still trying to figure out what worked best.

Great video, you have some of the best character deep dives in the fanbase! I personally much prefer fat gurl Chica over what they did with Toy Chica. I think the voice they gave Rock Star Chica fits the kind of goofy energy I imagined her having and I feel like there’s more potential for a fun character using that basic mold. Anyways, your note about how _Toy Chica: The High School Years_ may parody some of Afton's killings kind of does tie into my old theory that Chica was originally the one responsible for the Bite of '87, although I would think the withered variant more likely to (I mean, by appearance, it definitely seems likely enough for her anyways, with those impressive jaws). The various lines about her being 'the first', the fact that she is _also_ a spare, yellow animatronic in the back of the restaurant. This slots in with that. Chica's definitely always had some strange additional relevance in the series, though, I must say. Personally, I'd buy figurines or action figures of the Toys. Of most of the animatronics, really, but the FNaF 2 cast is one of my favorites. I'll always want an endlessly expandable modular Mangle set - take it apart and put it back together, make a mangled mess all your own. Expansion packs to that sort of thing are good money anyways, and it could be a better version of those 'build your own Nightmarionne if you buy all the parts' thing if every FNaF 2 character or just every Toy animatronic had all these spare Mangle parts included as well.

Calm down, Cassidy or whoever TOYSNHK is doesn't puppeteer all the custom animatronics directly, they seem to be recreations of the characters that critically are sentient and self-aware, withered bonnie has the line "What is this new prison? is it me trapped or is it you? perhaps it is us both." NRN NAA herself also did a video on Mr. Hippo being confused and misremembering his human life as stories about him and Orville, so clearly the Customs are all sentient, the vengeful spirit has to go out of their way to posses some of the mediocre melodies to talk to William, so yeah Toy Chica is probably just doing that because she feels like it, real girlboss move Plus given Toy Chica's uhh... hardware it's very possible being sexy was just her thing within the Fazbear brand, it's not far fetched, and Cassidy or whoever would just base UCN Toy Chica after this

I always saw Toy Chica as a warning of Toxic-sexualization... Very Meta nod to the Fans... I assume her removing her Beak (which we find out is also her voice-box), was a way to Silence her after what she Saw... She was the first, she saw everything. And seemingly, was the first to Find the Crying-child after his death. Another reason they probably cut her Audio, was so people couldnt sexualize her more than they already were.. Like, the character Design was to make it more obvious Chica actually was a Female Character all the way from the originals... So, they had to add some kind of Creepy factor

I’d like to open this comment by saying that it’s really neat how this character shares a VA with Dragon Ball Z Abridged’s Android 18. Good for her that she got to work with such brilliant comedic talent. It’s interesting that Baby was all “Sadistic to Sexy”, while T. Chica was “Sexy to Sadistic”. I’ve no issue with sexy female villain characters in stuff aimed at kids, but I feel compelled to ask if it’s canon or not if T. China happens to be inhabited and possessed by the soul of some little kid, like Baby was. It would be…quite disturbing if that was the case, and not in the “horror story” kind of disturbing, but in the “I feel like consuming this media is gonna put me on a list” disturbing. I don’t think that’s the case, at least. Now is also a good of a time as ever to bring up how FNAF does the “Pantsless Males, Fully Dressed Females” trope, being super back-and-forth. In some lines, nobody gets pants, but in others only the females get pants, and in others, everyone gets pants, sometimes ONLY some males and ONLY some females get pants while others don’t, it’s a whole thing. Nearly every Chuck E.-ish animatronic IRL happens to be fully clothed to help obscure metal and wires, so it’s something interesting. Best of luck on the next video! I’m hoping for more Ultimate Custom Night music, myself. It’s perfect for videos of this style.
