Absolutely! I was just talking to a fellow collector and we were saying how great it is when a toy gets a second life. Especially when you find something that has been long forgotten at the bottom of a bin and covered with crud but once it's been properly cleaned it's like a brand new toy again!

Seeing as how Playmates constantly rereleases the original turtles, it seems like some of the sought after later releases would make a great collector channel or convention exclusive. While it wouldn't be quite the same as an original, I think a lot of people would be happy to have a reissue of Scratch vs. not having one at all.

I was already into "adult toy collecting" when the last waves of Playmates TMNT came out and was regularly checking stores for new figures. I badly wanted Scratch the Cat but never found him when he was new, so I'm pretty certain he was always a rare, under-produced figure.

Great video Dan! This is one of the best parts of toy collecting that I think often gets overlooked. It's all about the community and meeting other cool, like-minded individuals and making connections with them. Even if you never see this dude again it'll still be something you'll always remember. On top of that you got an amazing haul on all those figure plus adding one of your grails to your collection is super fulfilling!

I grew up owning Scratch the Cat as well. Most of the younger kids from that era had the later figures and I remember always being the little kid in every circle of friends. Its funny cause what this guy said was the same with me..I thought of Scratch as just another figure I grew up with too. I just sold my Scratch and Hot spot a few years ago for $550. It was so cool to find out I had him and I love hearing story's about how people played with their Tmnt and other toys. It'd be cool if Dan made a video just on that alone sometime. I know id'e totally be down to share my story's of playing with these amazing toys growing up,

I was still hardcore collecting the TMNT line when Scratch came out, and for many years beyond that. I was able to get a lot of the rare figures released in those later years like Shogun Shoate and Triceraton, the red Robotic Rocksteady, the smaller sized Krang's Android body, the sumo turtles, etc. But Scratch and Hot Spot were sadly ones that I was never able to find. They had to have been made in much smaller numbers compared to other figures. I don't know how I could have found so many of the other rare figures back in the 90s but not these guys. For now, I've settled on a "statue" version of Scratch I got from a customizer, which is essentially the original figure that was casted but with no articulation. Still need to get Hot Spot too one day.

Lucky score! I had grown out of TMNT by the time Scratch showed up as well, but not for Power Rangers, but video games. I got rid of all my toys by 1993 in the great "I'm too old for these" purge and did not starting actually collecting toys until a friend got me into Transformers: Beast Wars in 1997 or so because Transformers was my first real toy memories as a kid and the Beast Wars toys were so good, actually resembling their TV show self pretty well and were so well articulated. I didn't start collecting the vintage TMNT stuff until I'd say around 2009? I started by buying up lots people were selling on ebay or going to antique stores that sold old toys. I mostly focused on buying up stuff I had as a kid, and then stuff I WANTED as a kid, or never knew about and thought looked cool. I have most of the figures now, except for Scratch and Hot Spot I believe.

I got Scratch when he came out. And keep my TMNT collection up until I was about 21 or 22, it was 2001, 2002. My wife at the time would have her nieces and nephew come over from time to time. And her nephew would love to play with my old Ninja Turtles. So one day I decided to give him the entire collection. This was way before I became a collector. But now that I am a collector, and happily divorced. I can't help but think "WHY!? I WAS SO STUPID!!! WHY!?" The thing is my wife told me that I didn't have to. I just seen how happy the Turtles made him and that made me happy............................................... But now I'm kicking myself. Now I'm upset.
