Out of all the Spider-Man figures I had as a kid, Radioactive Armor Spidey was my favorite. Sure he didn’t have the armor pieces since I was four at the time, but man did I love him. Actually just ordered one complete on card alongside several others.

One of my best friends as a kid would constantly choose the weirder gimmicky versions of characters over what many of us would argue were better choices. Since we always traded figures, I subsequently ended up with a lot of them, in this case the Radioactive Spider Armor one. They definitely have their place and could be a lot of fun when you wanted to play Spider-Man but were tired of the regular old Spider-Man look. Now as an adult looking at this wave, when I consider it's mostly kind of hodge podged together through repaints and unused molds from other lines, it's really kind of charming. Certainly wasn't a bad way to pick up a Spider-Man or Doc Ock figure in 1996 if you had missed out or were new to the line.

Yes finally! I remember these back in the day. I've loved all your retro toybiz reviews so far. You should get someone to do a repaint of a parachute/webglider spiderman in the black costume. I think that would look awesome and it be better than barrel chested one that we got. It would add to the collection. You should do a top 10 favourite figures.

There was An actual black costume Spider-Man released as part of a Sam’s club excl box set, doenst have the weird chest thing like the first version. I’ll show em off in a upcoming vid. Def will be doing a top # vid when all of these are done! Thank you for watching

I believe vault gaurdsmen ‘s mold and the Spider-Man with the armor ports was originally intended to be part of the canceled final wave of Iron Man line. X-men absorbed some of those molds too.

They should have included a couple more villains or other characters, other than Spidey, and it would have been great (so many tech based villains out there). All in all, not that bad a series of toys. At least there are few unreleased IM molds in there.

How many more waves are left to show? In my mind I always thought that (quite geeky admittedly) the earlier waves (one to five) were more tv show and six onwards were more comic book inspired. Reason being the spiderman mold being different.

All toybiz had to do was repaint a parachute/webglider spiderman or the multi articulated spiderman with the black suit with tinged of blue on them if you wanted something tv inspired or web cannon repaint in the four pack box set if you wanted something comic book. Hated the barrel chest thing.
