This is one of favorite Shredder action figures in my collection. I did kinda wish that they went with double jointed elbows and knees, so I could recreate that iconic "I AM HERE!" pose from the first issue of the original TMNT comic. Those nitpicks aside, I love that Super 7 made these modern, detailed and articulated versions of the TMNT action figures I played with as a kid. They're really killing it with this line.

Great review ToyBro! These are looking great. As much as I love Super 7 sticking so close to the vintage figures I would like them to re-evaluate what makes them ultimate. Instead of the weapons sprue/tree, give us a little more articulation range and each figure being packed with a vintage & modern head would be cool. Definitely agree about the torso articulation too. Question, How come no one puts them in their vintage pose? That'd be a neat little inclusion in a review.

I feel like with some modifications and a repaint, someone could make a custom Mirage or even 2003 Shredder (Utrom or Demon/Tengu) out of this figure.

Oooooh! He's one I've been waiting to see! I already love it visually and can't wait to see him, Bebop and Leonardo in my hands soon! Super7 has the potential to be my one of main sources for TMNT figures if they can do some improvements to articulation and more things to justify the $45 minimum price point

They've got the first 7 waves already planned out. That's a good chunk of the way through the original line of you don't count all the rehashes of the four turtles. Think we might see Ground Chick and Pizza Face at some point.

@@agentghost3234 S7 hasn't revealed that yet. Although Brian Flynn did say we're getting Usagi Yojimbo this year. But I think it's a safe guess that we'll be seeing Krang, Leatherhead, Rat King, Slash, and Wingnut & Screwloose at the very least.

Well at least this one stands up straight. I felt the same way as a kid, and had probably 3 copies of the original. I think the "squat" stance was designed so he would fit in the packaging.

It was indeed. There is a interview with the playmates CEO back then and he said that was the reason for him to be on that pose. Packaging issues

A big let-down that they didn't give him an ab crunch. Shredder would be amazing with it since he is the kind of character that would look great in extreme "ninja attack" poses. NECA didn't give him one either. Aside from that, he's perfect IMHO. I honestly hope Super7 does give us the toon colors version since it did appear in toy form (loop-hole making it possible) late in the original Playmates line. I have totally fallen in love with their TMNT Ultimates line! They seem to have improved a lot with clean paint apps and solid joints.

Super 7 Shredder is not a bad figure, but he is my least favorite in the line of the 8 we've gotten. First, I've never liked the vintage shirtless design. Second, of all the figures so far, Shredder really needed an ab crunch or torso articulation of some kind. The head not having any kind of movement to speak of is disappointing and odd. But getting a toy version is neat. I do have some nostalgia for it. Now bring on Slice N Dice Shredder and Super Shredder!!

In my opinion, their line of turtles balance the retro and modern look perfectly. This however misses the mark, something about the assemble makes it look cheap.

I would have bought this if there were a shirt. If rather have a shirt that justifies the placement of the shoulder armor than a second cape or the playmates homage head. I understand what Super 7 was doing more of less, but some of the choices are certainly questionable. It's sad that despite all the notable improvements upon the playmates figure (and there were many to be made) it's still not appealing enough for me, especially at that price. I'd love to live this figure, especially being the head villain in the series.

Big question for you: Do you prefer the Ultimates Shredder figure over the Ultimates Splinter? (Just in general.) They're both kind of gray areas for me as the vintage versions were... well, as a kid I would have told you they were abominations. (My brother had them, but I pretty much left them alone. 😅) Both Ultimates figures certainly *have* updated things in the aesthetics department, though.
