The leg conversion is a pretty unique transformation

they could definitely make a Legacy Chase re-tool into this guy

Don't know if anyone else is gonna do this but I am 100% head cannoning this design with Decepticon Stinger's colour scheme for a Generations style Stinger.

Gobots actually looked BETTER than transformer minibots who often had a monoleg.

I love that TJ is reviewing the most random ass figures out there instead of just recent hastak offerings

Looking at the body shape for this one, I could see a modern version being made from legacy tfp cliffjumper.

Also, Stinger from Gobots is voiced by Peter Cullen.

That's cool and I remember this dialogue from Stinger. "Don't worry Fitor, we'll sting the Guardians hard!"

One of the few gobots I had as a kid and he got a ton of play and lasted a long time. I am not even sure what happened to him

This is one of the few Go Bots that I had back in the day. I often used him as a nemesis for Tracks and Turbo (another one I had). Always a sucker for a good sports car design, he is one of the few characters I would love to see Hasbro do an homage to. Especially knowing he was a Tonka creation it would definitely be possible.

This was one of my favorite Go-Bots growing up, so I was pretty excited to see you review this one. He looked cool and the transformation of the legs felt very unique compared to the others.

I love seeing more Gobot reviews. There’s this collective gaslighting where Gobots weren’t popular but they were actually and sold well. It’s just Transformers has the more complicated toys and better fiction. The transforming robot fad of the 80’s only lasted from 83-87. By 1988, only Transformers were left.

I will say a few years ago I am not sure how long ago I found this Gobot Stinger at a yard sale for a quarter. It was missing one of his legs and his rubber tires were split and crack. I kept him for a while but since it was missing parts I did throw it away in the garbage . I enjoy the video.

I've always liked the Go-Bots, not as much as Transformers, but they have a lot of neat little guys with some occasionally creative transformations and some occasionally unique alt modes.

GoBots' only real problems was the naming system. Names were too on the nose while Transformers had more variety, sticking to a theme of machinery that didn't always just name their vehicle mode. Too many GoBot names that was just a variant of their vehicle modes in comparison.

I wouldn’t say it’s the only problem. The show characters stook to the toys, sometimes to a fault. And the areas where they didn’t… UGH.

@@mechanwhal6590 I never understood why they gave new faces to the main six characters, and said so in one of my reviews. (I think the one TJ didn't cameo in.) Although I do like the added colors on Scooter's face, though I could have done without the bulging eyes. (Scooter is my favorite GoBot for similar reasons Bumblebee is my favorite Autobot. Favorite GoBot toy is Road Ranger, though.) I've even said in comments on this channel that I wish Floro Dery had been closer to toys, with only minor changes to hide gaps and the lack of articulation in those days, like the tech spec art did.

@@ShadowWingTronixScooter and Turbo are supposed to be the kid appeal characters, no? They look HIDEOUS. Cy-Kill at least has the advantage of being the villain. So his face looking like that makes perfect sense - it’s all they can do to make him not look friendly given his color scheme! Plus Scooter has quite possibly the worst voice known to man. Sorry.
@ShadowWingTronix5 күн бұрын
@@mechanwhal6590 Scooter might be. Turbo was the obligatory tough guy. I think you're being harsh on the voice, but it's not the one I would have gone with either. It has to be hard on Welker to try to find a new voice each time even with his talent. Scooter borrows a lot from Slimer on Real Ghostbusters and it wasn't the right move. It might have worked for a one-shot, but not one of the main characters in a miniseries you're hoping gets picked up for a full series. It had to grow on me and I'm still a fan of the character more than the voice. I also don't like the voice he gave Niddler on Pirates Of Dark Water when the original VA, Malcolm McDowell, had a better one. I guess he was too expensive for ABC to get for the series though Fox got him for the miniseries.
