YO TRY THIS: Create a PARALLEL stereo chain (panned hard LEFT and RIGHT) in the Axe FX. 1st is your regular setup. OD into PREAMP into a CAB. This is your RIGHT signal. 2nd is your regular setup (duplicate) BUT with the MIMIC before the cab. Have the settings in FULL MIX, FULL TIGHTNESS and im guessing TURN OFF the DRY knob. This will make your sound just the WET effect. This is your LEFT signal. Combining it with the 1st regular chain creates the STEREO sound. CHEERS!

If you can find the original Mimiq, that one works A LOT better. Sounds much more natural, none of that weird chorus-y/echo-y sound. It's a fully stereo pedal with two inputs and outputs, as opposed to the mono mini version, so that's likely what makes the difference. Not sure if TC makes it anymore, but if you can find it I'd definitely recommend that over this version.

Traditionally from the late 70s/80s people used a chorus before the distortion in order to fatten up the signal. Later on the detune effect came up. Perhaps nicer sounding through high gain. The Whammy pedal made it popular for the poor who couldn't afford the earlier Eventide rack units. I like both tricks, however if they're abused they can become exhausting to everybody's ears. This pedal sounds to me sort of a «detune has a child with a chorus» effect. I wonder why you didn't play with the effect level, though; you just took it from zero to max. I'd start with it set it in the middle, then play around with it. Otherwise you'll definitely have some phase cancellation, both signals maxed out will always work against the other in mono (same amplitude, different phase/tuning), while varying each signal's amplitudes will make one more present than the other, becoming the leading one, but they'll still work together and the sum will be wider or fatter. The dry signal by itself went down I would say around 6 dB when compared to the bypassed signal, that makes sense because when you add up two signals in a mix you need to compensate the loudness by -6 dB. Anyway, we weren't the one playing or in the room, so you, your ears, and your feel while playing will always know better than anyone else.

First, you'd be better off with the stereo version of the pedal and make it go to two cabs. In mono, it's Def gonna be way more phase-y. If you want to use this pedal, the way I'd try it is to turn the dry down and the effect all the way down. Behind your amp block, split to two cab blocks panned hard L/R and use this on only one cab block. For the trem picking, idk if I can help you there lol. But live, you'd be wanting to be just by the cab that is unaffected. Similarly, if you are tracking guitars live, you might only want to monitor the signal without the effect, to get the tightest playing. Either way, the stereo pedal is more flexible and you can rig it more ways, for tri and quad tracking etc.

I don’t dislike the effect on your tone.

Nice job! Just try Dual Mono or Stereo setup otherwise as you already know this thing is NOT for Mono!

Just a reverberation you get by playing inside a huge oil pipe.

Hai. Have a stereo Mimiq here and came to the conclusion that the only action it could be working great is between a pre-amp/AFx to your pwr-amp. Too lazy to try it out bc then I have to distort my setup. Have tried different positions as for the positionblocks in the AF but there's always something I don't like. And the stereo-one has the overkill fx too - metallic hollow sound when tweaked out; that out-of-phase thingy. Still in its box for five years now, maybe give it a re-try soon

It's nothing more than a double with a light pitch and delay, both tweakable at taste, I can do that with other pedals or in the AF. It never is a 2nd guitarist. And it's never the satisfying copy in your DAW; it has the same freq and will not deliver an good overdub. I don't understand the purpose of this pedal. Therefore the vid is cool to take the pedal for an investigation. Maybe a second vid of the Mimiq with in mind the comments on this first vid :) Thnx for the vid! 👃

Im surprised you didnt dial the mimic signal back a bit to say 3/4,then it wouldnt have had as much of the slapback /cold tone.Surprised at the volume drop of the dry signal too! Perhaps a tone print or two might have yeilded different results.I have a few mini pedals that i beam toneprints to.

yeah, I definitely have to explore the tone prints! And the volume drop is a huge minus imho.

have you tried lowering the dry signal? however i am sceptical about a mono doubler, without stereo out i don't think it's a good effect

totally agree, it will only work in a digital setup or for guys with loads of gear

I have another idea, try splitting guitar segnal before the effect, and use it totally wet on one channel and the other on an another channel. Probably could work
