The KM3 has one interesting design feature. The centre blocks are designed to be out of phase with each other. This cancels out the sound that they make. For those that don’t know, 2 sounds that are out of phase with each other will cancel each other out and you won’t hear a thing. This is why the BFG is very quiet for a chunky tyre.

thats pretty interesting. I do notice the KM3s run nice. They are on my Diesel LC and about to add some King Shocks and Icon dual rate springs... Suspension should be smoother than a 2022 RR Cullinan

@@CruisingTheLand I’m running them on a Jeep XJ. Obviously, it’s a much lighter vehicle, so wear rate seems to be pretty impressive and I find them very quiet for a mud tyre :)

I have toyo 35×12.50r22 on my tahoe they are very quiet for a mud terrain even after 20k miles with plenty of tread left.offroad they are great.surprisinhly theyve held up to plenty of crawling without nicking the bead of the wheel

You definitely have a passion for your rigs. I usually get around 40k miles on my Toyo MT's. I'm running the LT275/65/18's Toyo MT's on a stock LC200 and they seem to work fairly well(my 4th set of them). I wish I could keep my vehicle as clean as you do yours, but I live in the Selkirk Mountains on the Canadian/Idaho/WA border and we don't have much for nice weather around here. I can tell you this with certainty, The Toyo MT's suck on ice even when new with added siping. Thanks for the video, nicely done!!

I have the BFG ATIII on my 200, but not in as climatic conditions as you... for the rock trails have the trepadors, but have overlanded with ease with both the Toyo MTs and BFG MTs.

Great breakdown, the KM3 compound and why it doesn't last is long is some stuff i didn't know..HOWEVER, one major difference i feel you missed pointing out, and one I took into major consideration when deciding for my JTR, weight. Those KO2 or KM3 so so much lighter than the Toyo or their cousin Nitto. That unsrpung weight is a huge difference when you're ramping up in size from say a 31 or 32 to a 35 or in my case from a 33 to a 37. Just a thought! Thanks for the content. Love your LC80 collection and that RHD JDM LC.

@@CruisingTheLand I live in Boulder CO. All the off road shops out here really push the Nitto. But my god. There’s like 1 time a year a MT actually makes sense here and for instance. The 37” nitto (17” wheelx12.5) is like 84 vs the 78 for the KM3. And when I decided to go KO2. Those are only 73. 11lbs per tire of unsprung weight is 132lbs, I believe of effective added unsprung weight. Just a thought!

Nice man!!!! Great review :) I just got Toyo OP M/T 35s......so wondering what is you suggested OFF-ROAD tire pressure? I'm in the desert out here in Vegas and I usually run 16-17psi on my stock Bronco 35 tires. I also drive faster and more spirited. So I switched from Toyo to KM3 last year. The BFG is not louder, actually quieter on my old Dodge. I could hear the Toyo, couldn’t hear the BFG over my Flowmaster exhaust. I have 12k (3k off road)on them so far, still at 70% or so. Love them so far. I don’t daily my Ramcharger but we drive it to the trails around SC/GA/NC. No issues on those road trips.

I had KO 2's one time....ONE TIME and that was enough. The Toyo M/T's may make a tiny bit more noise (I guess) on pavement, but heavy snow, loose large rock, gravel, wet pavement /every kind of mud and whatever else, no complains from me. And no sidewall damage. Even cornering while chasing a 911 Porsche , no "body roll". Great compound used in this tire I can get 40,000 miles out of a pair along with all the abuse they put up with. Just rotate more often since they aren't as "stiff a ride" as the KO 2's... I have a 2013 4x4 2" lift , FJ Cruiser.

Nice, the KM3s wiuld be more comparable since they are MTs, and I agree the Toyo MT will perfomr better than the K02 AT off road. Plus look more agressive.

I’m not sure how I feel about dual valve stems. On one hand it’s more convenient when airing up or down. On the other hand it’s an extra point of failure that isn’t necessary.

I had the KM3 and they are softer but they lasted a pretty long time if you rotate often but man on that trail it’s amazing.

I'm replacing my 35x12.5x17 KM3s after a disappointing 32,000 miles, should have replaced them about 5k ago (rotated diligently every 6k) on a F150 with Ikon suspension. Loved the performance and quietness of the KM3s but want something just as aggressive looking but would wear longer. I'm that guy who uses a F150 with 35" tires as a daily driver and plays in the dirt and mud maybe 4x - 6x a year, that's less than once a month. Do you still recommend the Toyos for that? Or is there an aggressive AT tire I should consider? Thanks!

Yes, Toyos look agressive, will last longer and better on paved roads which is 98% of your driving, and almost as good off road..

I have a first gen Raptor prerunner. I love both brands, both are great but the Toyo having thicker sidewalls and being heavier actually hold up better against high speed desert running. I just completed a 130 mile prerun of the baja 500 race course and had zero tire issues with the Toyos.

But throwing away snow from your tire makes it create less friction (on snow), so as always, MT's are pretty damn bad for snow. Snow doesn't work like mud and that's why real winter tires have a lot of siping on them to bind that snow in, because snow on snow is what creates friction and traction, not snow on rubber. This seems to be a common misconception with nearly every MT tire review 🤔 Just one thing that should be included in "everything you need to know". Not trying to be a d**k. Just want people to drive safe and know what to expect from their tires 😊 Of course, if you can't have access to proper winter tires (something like Nokian Hakkapeliitta) or have little need for snow tires because of less snow through out the year, then obviously work with what you got. I live in Finland and we get a lot of snow during the winter for months and I've seen and tested the differences between MT's and proper winter tires (I have those Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 on my Jeep WK for winter) and it's just a night and day difference. You can drive around in MT's, but when switching to winter tires, it's nearly feels like driving on ice with slicks vs street tires on dry pavement 😂

I got the ko2’s and made sure I got them brand new. I got 20+ k on them already and they got lots of treat left. They have done me well. I’m about to buy the mud bf’s and try them as my winter package. I don’t mind road noise during the winter so it will be the first mud tire I get to buy. I figure it can double as my off-road set up since my summers are chrome 20’s and my winters are 16 in black.

Man,, I'm on the fence!! Great reviews for the Toyos, but no one really talks about how heavy they are. I watched this along with others a couple days ago, can't remember if he mentions the weight or not. Looking at 37x14.5 R 15. Yes, I like my 15" bead locks, I'm old school like that, but The Toyos weigh 103 lbs!! That's massive. Rotating Mass is not a good thing. Any thoughts out there??

Hey. Very informative. I am going to local shop next week to ask about a set of toyo ( 35 inch) for my f 550 dually. I'll need spacers, load rating E, plan to put a truck camper on it and do light off road. Forest service roads. Any thoughts on that? Not ready to commit to super singles just yet. The truck is 2011. Going to put leveling kit (3 inch) I think it will look really sharp, be good quality and perform well. Love to hear yours or anyone's opinion on my plan. Thank you. Ian.

I have done coil spacers to level off a Land Cruiser 200 (they have sting bug stance) I have also installed wheel spacers, typicall 1.25 or 1.5. Definitely give better stability and look.

I have a 3/4 ton running 35's bfg Km3 with 62k on them and still have 7/32 left. But I do rotate them every 3k.

I wanna know how the Toyos do when aired down. I hear they are stiff even when at 15psi compared to the KM3s. Ive been told the Toyo side wall is too rigid

Both those models have poor to moderate performance on mud at best! If you are looking for real mud tire-bogger, simex trekker, maxxis trepador, cst… etc BF GR and Toyo are good compromise for daily driving combined with asphalt too 😉

Yes, later in the video you see the Cooper SSTs on one vehicle and 40" Trepadors on my FJ40... But the Trepadors are ultimate at 5lb air off road, they do not last long on pavement!

I'm curious about load rating. If I'm not carrying a lot of extra weight or towing, what would be the effect of identical tires in e load vs. c load. I've been told that sidewall structure is unrelated to load rating, and that load ply equivalent is just related to the belts. It I'm airing down, and I want tire flex, do c load flex better?

Got a 22 Colorado zr2, trying to decide between these tires and the cooper stt pro, although cooper claims them as “hybrid” tires, looking at them, they are clearly a mud tire, I like to do deep mudding, go fishing a lot and deal with a lot of gravel, dirt and sometimes mud roads to get where I want, also go duck hunting and those roads can be in any form, does anyone have experience from ether of those tires they wanna share? I wanna go with a 33x12.5 rather than the 35x12.5 and I am not too worried about the cost of the two. But if anyone has a review they wanna share I’ll be glad to take them
