@Vikinggarage. About 2 yrs ago I saw a video using Lexus GX460 driver side handle installed on a 2020 4 Runner (same interior A pillar colour, OEM Lexus part). I believe it worked perfectly, matched colour, no gap. I believe several posts on this mod were on the Toyota 4Runner Forum site. As someone here mentioned, this part used to be on 4Runners in the past. Probably a cost saving decision; there were some comments then that it may have caused a visual blockage, but I feel if that was the case, they would have removed it from the Lexus I would think

If this is true I would love to know what the actual part number is. I do thank you for sharing that. There are folks Out there that really need this handle to aid them. So for them, we need a better solution then what this company is currently offering.

I put the grab handle on my '23 TRD Off Road Prem. Top bolt was a breeze, but after trying to find that bottom screw hole for almost half an hour, I took a 5 min. break. Then got it on the second try. Enjoy your videos. Getting lots of ideas for my new '23 4R.

Thank you for the video. I wasn’t sure how to use the tool and you’re the only one that actually showed the “how too” I installed the grab handle in my 2023 Tacoma everybody else was saying it was a nightmare. It was super easy I used a magnet on the screwdriver shank to hold the screw on the tip and used the top of my head to push the panel towards the windshield 😂. I was done in 27 minutes, that’s right I put the stopwatch on my phone haha

Excellent video for the final confirmation I needed to NOT put this aftermarket grab handle on. I’ve seen numerous videos on installing this on the 5th generation 4Runner and 3rd generation Tacoma. Was on the fence, but not now. The company that sells this isn’t one I would want to do business with at all and the grab handle accessory isn’t top quality - design is lacking especially for the money they charge. I don’t want to screwup my ‘24 TRD Pro 4Runner with this. Thanks to @barrywiseman7012 and his reply about the possibility of using the Lexus GX460 OEM part, I will look into that when I get ready to put a grab handle on. Thanks for this video and BTW, good looking Army Green TRD ORP you have.

Installed this on my 4runner in the summer, i agree bottom gap bothers me as well but i force myself to look the other way lol. I didnt use rivet as ive seen forums where ppl complain it loosens over time... i used a small piece of scrap steel, bolted it over the hole and drilled a hole thru scrap steel and tapped it - 10-28 screw. Bigger bolt more secure for sure!

I just picked up a 23 4Runner and coming from driving a 04 I really miss the grab handle. However the gap is a concern maybe a 2nd release will come out in the future and with the tab removed. Excellent and very informative video! Any chance on doing a video on the RAV 4 side mirror replacement for the 4Runners so we can enjoy the blind spot mirror thats part of the mirror. I have heated mirrors and blind spot monitors as I’m sure your new 4Runner does, maybe a good segment for your next mod if it’s possible.

Where does that handle go if the airbag deploys? I thought the reason why Toyota didn't have a grab handle there was because of the airbag. It does look cool however, I usually grab the steering wheel when I get in but a grab handle would be much better!

I’m right there with you, hence my disclaimer at the end. I can’t say with certainty but when you remove the A-pillar on the opposite side the air bag is routed exactly the same as the drivers side, so technically it should work but without proper testing I’m merely speculating. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks for the video, definitely considering this, drives me crazy that Toyota didn't include the driver-side handle when other Toyota models have them. The question is does this void a new car warranty and does it in any way affect the airbag deployment.

Unfortunately we don’t have the proper testing to confirm the airbag deployment. As far as warranty, won’t void it, but they sure look for any reason to do so 🤷🏼‍♂️

The OEM piece didn’t have that bottom bolt. I wonder if that second bolt would interfere with airbag deployment? The fit and finish, and the uncertainty of airbag deployment makes this one a pass for me. But thanks for taking the time to put the video out! Great content as always 👍🏻 Ps if you end up removing it, can you edit the video to reduce the rating out of 10? An eight out of 10 might convince people to buy it when it really is a 4/10 after sleeping on it. Lol

My very good friend, you know me to well. Because of all those reasons and then Some, not only will I be updating that score In The description but it’s literally getting removed over the weekend. I still posted the video mainly to help other install it or perhaps not waste their money like I have. As always I appreciate your input!! (It’s most definitely a 4 as far as overall quality is concerned, poorly executed… not to mention it’s potentially going to affect the air bag operation. NOT GOOD)

@Treeetopflyer. Actually, as I mentioned below, the Toyota 4Runner Forum had several posts of adding the Lexus 460GX OEM part to a 2020 4Runner. If I'm not mistaken in those posts, when they removed the driver's side trim piece to expose the holes, the top hole had the bolt in place (not connected to anything), There was a drilled bottom hole, but had no bolt installed. Either the OEM replacement came with a bolt for the bottom hole, or he got the appropriate bolt from Toyota or Lexus. He added it with no gaps perfectly done. I remember he commented about the outrageous price of the handle though. It may have been $130 or so. But you could always go on the 4Runner forum & search out this mod. Probably posted around Jan 2020

Maybe updated or changed airbag that would preclude them from putting it on standard. I find often there’s a good reason for things even if they don’t seem obvious. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wow! I used to build off-road vehicles from street queens to serious rock crawling and I DO NOT recommend the use of K&N Air Filters. They DO NOT, in my opinion, filter the air good enough!

Learning a lot from you! I was wondering if you couod answer 2 questions please. Or tell me where i coukd find them? I am in the process of buying a very nice 2021 4runner tro premium. Like it a lot but i cannot get the remote start to work. Videos i have watched say 2020 and later have it and its theu the lock button on the fob. Press 3 times with last one for 3 sec. What is true? Second when i start from a stop wht does it have no pep? I have to romp in the accelerator to get it moving. Is that the way they are? For mist of my lige i havecbeen a jeep guy.,

No remote start on yours, only TRD pro or limited. The pedal feel is perfectly normal 4Runner characteristic.
