My 2022 Limited 4 Runner came with it. It’s the key Fab 👍🏼😊

Good video. Installed the N2 Designs w/key takeover on my 2023 about two months ago with the wireless module. Stays running which I like instead of it killing. Also, no need to hold the fob on the third lock press. My install was slightly different though. Also, the wireless module is free the first year then 49.95/yr afterwards but you can start it from anywhere as long as you have internet. I started mine from 12K feet on top a mountain yesterday while snowboarding. It was about -2°F and knew it would take me about 5mins to get down to the base. Nice and toasty when I got to it. 😂

Very nice! I installed the OEM kit and am glad I did. Then I saw a Dave's Automotive video on the damage that is caused to the engine over time by letting an idling vehicle sit. Essentially, because an engine idles at a constant, low speed, moisture builds up that would otherwise be expelled when the amount of throttle varies. It's worth looking into. And since I installed a kill switch, I don't use the remote start much anymore. But it is a great accessory to have for those special occasions! Ah, the journey and joys of owning a 4Runner. :)) Thanks, Paul.

@@VikingsGarage I find the kill switch to be inconvenient at times. Because I live in a southern border state where crime has gone up, I'd rather deal with the inconvenience of operating a switch than deal with the inconvenience of finding my 4Runner missing and rebuilding what has taken years to attain. Pickups and SUVs are the vehicle of choice down here.

Nice video as usual, but way more involved than the Start X kit. I installed it on my 22 ORP in 30 minutes. You just remove the glovebox, install the T-harness and module, easy peasy. I highly recommend the Start X kit.

I installed the StarterX, plug & play, way easier.

I have this auto start along with the smart phone module in my 2023 Gen5 which allows me to start the car (via phone app) from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet connection. Also has GPS, geofence, notifications and alerts (requires $99/year subscription). Your install was a little different from mine as I had to plug half into driver's side and the other half behind the glove compartment.

Good video and thanks, seems all the aftermarket units operate in a similar fashion 3x's push/hold. Too bad many auto manufactures are getting rid of factory installed auto start (single push on fob), They are doing this just so they can sell you remote start via a smart phone app, of course with a paid subscription $. This is a great alternative.
@VikingsGarage14 күн бұрын
Yes they are, but we are not going to fall for that. One time purchase and no subscription needed 😎

Always pumping out great content Viking! Quick question, I have a 2023 4runner with intermittent lane departure and precollison system malfunction light. It illuminates annd says unavailable but goes away after 10-15 minutes of driving. Took it to Toyota because it’s under warranty but they say they can’t find the problem. Is it true techstream won’t show past fault codes or is that not the case? Would like to get it resolved but it happens every other morning on cold start
@VikingsGarage8 күн бұрын
That is very unusual, I’ve never heard of such issue.
@ericozeta99978 күн бұрын
Does the pcs and lane departure malfunction store on the tech stream when it’s intermittent
@VikingsGarage8 күн бұрын
@ericozeta9997 it most definitely should, only if it triggers a malfunction code.

So you don’t have the factory one that you just push the lock button three times then hold it on the third for a few and it starts? Most do unless you get a lower model which yours isn’t
@VikingsGarage14 күн бұрын
DID NOT come with a remote start from factory! It’s only installed in higher trim levels(TRD PRO,LIMITED)
@brodoze550014 күн бұрын
@ Trd off road has them too which is what I have. Never knew I had it till I tried one day and it worked
@VikingsGarage14 күн бұрын
Sir with all due respect, knowing that I am a Toyota Master Tech, what makes you think I did not check to see if it has a factory remote start. IT DOES NOT!! MOST TRD OFF ROAD (PREMIUM) DON’T.

This remote start looks much easier to install than another one that I saw. I think that Toyota modular that you plugged into was behind the glove box and made it so you had to tear apart a lot more on the passenger side. This looks way easier. Thanks!
@VikingsGarage14 күн бұрын
It was actually not bad to do at all. Fairly easy.

I put in the Accessoride one on my '23. It went in from the passenger side. Only thing is you drop the air bag, but disconnected the negative battery terminal and it was easy. No wires to cut, plug and play, plus overrides the door open, engine dying. Took about an hour.

Hey VG. My 2023. Push button start has remote start on the key fob….. press and hold lock three times until lights flash. Starts right up….. once my. Initial Toyota phone app stopped working. Because I refused to pay monthly subscriber fee…I found this was a thing on the remote.
@VikingsGarage14 күн бұрын
Correct, that one requires a subscription. Ain’t nobody want that. This way, no monthly subscriptions
@ruckinehround696514 күн бұрын
@ actually my fob remote works without subscription…….. as the app was only 3 months here in Canada and not 1 year.. if I didn’t have this I would be doing exactly as you did in your video……. Your channel helps so much, let’s hope you get the growth in 2025 and beyond that you deserve.

Did you have to file the back of the valet key for an easier click fit. Initially I had to hulk press to get it to click in

@@VikingsGarageyes and no kinda deal here. I like the app and have a subscription, Not only it just starts your truck but have many other features and warnings. After 1 year of free trial I got spoiled and subcribed it. Too many benefits for $11 a month here in Canada. Cheers.

Did this on my ‘21 TRD ORP Runner and on my fiancé’s ‘18 RAV4, but we used the other popular brand which installs basically the same way but plug’n play and no cutting or stripping wires. Only use it in winter. During the summer I use the key fob to auto roll down all the windows including the sunroof and rear window, through my Autel scanner of course lol which is nice. At first I didn’t like that it shuts the truck off when you open the door until I realized nobody can drive off with it either 🤷♂️

@ was the splice you had to make for the option to use the app to remote start? I didn’t get the upgraded version for using your phone and it dawned on me that was why you had to splice into the telematics module, but not sure. Which is why I’m asking you this now lol appreciate it brother! 🤙
@VikingsGarage14 күн бұрын
@KendrasEdge757 they messed up my order 2 times, so at this point I can’t even tell you with 💯 certainty. But I did order the less expensive one (without phone option)
@KendrasEdge75714 күн бұрын
@@VikingsGarage oh ok, yeah then it doesn’t have the app connection. I’m just curious why they had you tie into the telematics module with the splice at all. I went with the ‘Start-X’ remote start kits for both of our Toyotas. Neither of which had any splicing and were all plug and play connections. I recommend this brand to most people due to not having to splice any wires and in turn, less likely for the diy owner to have to go to a shop and say “what had happened was…” and pay a couple hours of diag time lol but if they followed your video they wouldn’t end up in that situation. Well, shouldn’t anyhow lol Great stuff as usual though brother. Appreciate your content and the fact that you actually reply to your subs in the comments. Not every channel does that. Stay safe & God bless!
