I really love how you are able to help yourself in that situation and just fix things like the alignment of the wheels without the need of a mechanic. That's genuinely an impressive trait of yours

The older style ball joint seals have a hole in it to let water out. Very rare you see it nowadays but its to let water drain out or it can be pushed out when you grease the joint. Alot of people don't know this nowadays.
@JimmyMeatwhistle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, good info. Do you mean the upper and lower ball joints?
@02blackLightning3 жыл бұрын
@@JimmyMeatwhistle any type of joint that has a boot on it. All my dump trucks still even have that style. Brand new joints you buy with a boot. Spin the boot so the hole can drain if possible

Totally Cool! This video is great to watch, you are quite the mechanic, doing the "caveman" front end alignment, not to mention when doing these repairs require a great deal of "swearing", had me in stitches! All things said...the truck is looking very nice, love the paint job too! Too bad the cassette tape deck no longer works, reminded me of the last time I had a cassette deck, some 30+ years ago! Your videos make me want to go out and buy a beater Toyota 4x4 pickup too, but not sure my wife would go for that. Alas...I'll have to live my memories and desires vicariously through your videos... am so looking forward to your next project on the pickup! Thanks for doing the videos!

Haha, thanks Steve! These old trucks are awesome and it's definitely gratifying fixing them up. So far so good! More truck updates soon and more swearing 👍🍻

Great truck. Apparently I was only suggested your cabin videos. 90% of the vehicles I've owned have been Toyota's. Rad idea for the box. Do what fits your needs.

Would be curious to hear if you find a way to replace/repair the centerlink. I have an 89 3vze with a crooked centerlink like yours.

Great to see all the "love" you are pouring into your beater Toyota pickup! Haven't heard of that "cave man" alignment trick used before . . . learned something. One source for Toyota parts for late model Toyota trucks that I've used in the past, is a supplier called Auto8 out of Australia www.auto8.com.au (Australia's version of Princess Auto). Thousands of old Toyota pickups still running "down under", cause they don't rust so fast down there, and as a result, parts both original and after market abound. Prices are typically great, almost zero currency exchange issues, and shipping is super fast. Last order I placed with them was for a new replacement alternator for my 1991 Toyota Hilux Pickup. Arrived 7 days later in Nova Scotia all the way from Australia, via Australian Post and Canada Post . . . incredible! Part fit perfectly and runs to this day (cost me about $400 all in, including freight).

So surprised about the ball joints. With that toyota front suspension they tend to go out same time as the boots. Yes pitman arms, bearings, races, just did a similar rebuild on a 1996 t100
@JimmyMeatwhistle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments. Wow the T100 is a Rare Bird that's for sure. I was looking for one the other day believe it or not and I can't find one anywhere. In Canada that is anyway.

Hi and thanks for the comment. 3rd party. Actually having trouble finding Toyota parts for it. At the moment looking for a sector shaft seal. The original Toyota part number is 90312-36001 and it's no longer available from Toyota. So have a replacement coming from SFK
