Thanks Much, I have camry 2007 LE 2.4, do you what is the location of the AC relay? I also see some ppl shows the clutch engaged sometimes and sometimes not for some toyota. However, I see mine engaged all the time without any cooling. Thx

You might need to re charge the systym it might have a leak check for leaks also

What was that about the relay ? My yaris 2007 sometimes not cooling in idle ..but soon as you drive start cooling and both gauges are ok maybe it could be compre or relay ?? Does relay sometimes work and sometimes not ???

Well that means it’s low on Freon you need ac service

With me, the air conditioner blower starts, but the light in the button of the air conditioner does not turn on, due to which the compressor does not start. Checked everything, relays, fuses etc. are completely correct. Then what could be the problem?

Start with checking refrigerant pressure

Mine went dead after chmging car battery. Reconnect bat, same prob, fuse and relay good. Normal Voltages are at relay. Next ill check pressure switches and voltage at comp connector. Anything else it could be. Not sure if just coincidence same timw as bat change

@@RBTheMechanicdoes the idea that ac was not cold while working suggest low on gas and over time now its leaked so low that it wont work at all? Last filled about 5 years ago with new exp valve. Today, ill dignose more. Cheers..edit: Waiting on gauges still, but compressor clutch kicks in and runs. No pipes get cold. So i guess all that is left to do is analyze pressures. Either top up, or replace compressor i guess.

I have a scion xb. I have very cold Air when I first start the car. Low pressure is good in band. Then I start driving and air gets warm. If I shut car off for 15 mins or so it will be cold again until I drive. Engine temperature is normal. Looks like everything piece of the compressor pulley is spinning even when it’s blowing warm but I don’t really know how these compressors supposed to look. No noises from compressor. No check engine light. Ac fan is running. Got any imideas for me?

What is ur low and high pressure reading when ac systym is not doing its job?

@@RBTheMechanic my low when air is working 40psi. When it’s not working its greater than 85 psi. That’s all my gauge goes to. And I don’t have a high side gauge.

@@bgarcia856 so there’s an issue I would do service could be faulty air pressure or too much oil but to clear any doubt u need to do recovery and see how much measure amount comes out then vaccum and recharge the system with correct amount oil and refrigeration

@@RBTheMechanic yeah I just bought this car so I don’t know what was done to it. Air works fine at night when it cools down but cuts off when driving. Weird part is the clutch is always engaged even when it’s not working. I was leaning towards that sensor in the compressor.

@@RBTheMechanic ok a bought a real set up now. When I’d above 80 degrees outside my low side is 95 psi and my high side is 135 psi. When it’s below 80 degrees my low side is 35 and high is 140 (air conditioning works) so when is was working at low pressure at 35 I added on can to the low side and the high side started to get really high like 340 psi so I stopped. 10 mins later went back to low side reading high and high side reading low. I appreciate all your help.

@@RBTheMechanic I said that jokingly because Prius AC compressor has no clutch and works of the battery high voltage. High Enough to toast an unsuspecting mechanic to crisp lol. I’m working on one in my shop right now (I fix EV and HEV cars. It has no code but compressor does not turn on. I scope the communication wires they seem to send and receive signal so they can also be a pain in the butt to diagnose. One way I test it if it’s compressor or not ( don’t tell anyone) is I hook up a light bulb to it. Preferable low wattage light bulb, If light bulb lights up when you activate AC then it’s getting power so it must be compressor . Just be careful not to get electrocuted because the current in electric vehicle is huge. Hybrid not as bad but still very lethal. You should learn to work on EV and HEV they are fascinating.
