Agree with you 100%. Yes we can put Solid State batteries in a car but we didn't solve the recharge degradation problem of solid state batteries. So you have a car you can drive a few thousand miles before it's a paperweight. But hey, it runs off of a new technology of batteries that isn't market ready yet, and that's cool, right?

And the cost of replacing the battery?
@AmpedAuto
@AmpedAuto 5 күн бұрын
The cost of replacing solid-state batteries hasn't been disclosed yet, but they are expected to be more expensive initially. Over time, as the technology matures and becomes more widespread, the cost should decrease. Additionally, solid-state batteries are designed to last longer, potentially reducing the frequency of replacements :).

I think in recent years we've heard such bold claims at least once a month, but lithium batteries are still here. More than 20 years ago the first tooth clones were made in research labs. Cloned teeth are still a dream. The first lithium batteries were created in research labs in the 1960s. I think we have a long way to go.

Yes, It's understandable to be cautious about bold claims, especially considering the time it takes for new technologies to mature. While solid-state batteries have been in development for some time, significant progress has been made and this time, partnerships like Toyota's with Panasonic and Idemitsu signal a concerted effort towards realization. While the road ahead may be long, continued research and collaboration can lead to transformative breakthroughs in the electric vehicle industry. Let's remain hopeful and patient for advancements that could shape the future of transportation 👍👍

solid state is graphene ultra cap technology. If they can make an ultra cap compact enough and dense enough I will be interested in solid state tech as they have a nearly infinite life cycle compared to chemical batteries and have a nearly instant charge and discharge capability.

Interesting perspective. While solid-state batteries and graphene ultracapacitors have similarities, they are distinct technologies. Solid-state batteries offer potential advantages in energy density and safety, while ultracapacitors excel in rapid charge and discharge cycles. I was recently hired on in Georgetown. Its all BS. You can't believe Toyota. At this point anybody can be management at the company. They spent 3 days lying about so many things Toyota has been proven guilty of. Orientation was nothing but a brainwash session. The worst part was bringing in a married lesbian spending two hours trying to get 40 people to accept LGBTQIA+. The company is turning to poison amd many are hitting early retirement to bail out. Toyota is trying to attract help by giving incentives. But they lie so much its crazy. They surveil every employee there so nobody is going to tell the truth on site. They're sellouts.

Solid state battery that powers a car, that's easy. Solid state battery that recharges thousands of times, that's impossible with today's technology. Maybe 10-20 years from now. In the mean time, we have LiFePo4 that will only get cheaper and cheaper. So we will see long range car because of big,. cheap LiFePo4 batteries long before we will see solid state batteries as a real solution in a car. Right now Solid state batteries in a car is just for show and not for real because nobody is going to buy a car that you can only drive a few thousand miles before taking it in for major repairs.
