Shop quoted me 500 for the front brake pads. And had the audacity to tell me ill need to replace the calipers too because they don't push the pins back in. So it would be a total of 950. Because of your video I did the whole job in 1 hour and 900 dollars cheaper!

It is also a good idea to lube the caliper slide pins. I noticed you didn't do that.

Great video great lighting... 2 notes 1 is make sure you're using brake cleaner before you work on it that stuff causes cancer your hands were covered in dust even with the gloves on you can still inhale it. The torque wrench only should be clicked once.

Great video. I did mine yesterday. Question is it’s difficult to put the pads back in the caliper and it’s a bit frustrated. Do I have to put the wear indicator on the pads? As I need more room to put it back in.
@KrisKasprzak

I would keep the wear indicator. U sure the caliper piston was compressed in enough? I recall the pads pop in easily.

This is such a great video. Excellent detail down to the settings on the torque wrench. I think this will be very helpful when I replace my pads. Thanks for taking the time to make it. Question -- what additional steps would I need to take if I wanted to replace the rotors as well? Any additional lubricant I'd need to purchase? Anything else? It looks like they're really easy just to take off and replace but I'm not sure.
@KrisKasprzak
@KrisKasprzak 8 жыл бұрын
I believe they slip right off. Some cars have a screw that holds the rotors on but I don't recall this car having them--I just looked again at the video and i don't see any. replacing rotors is straightforward and doesn't require anything else (the bearings are actually part of the hub the rotors attach to so the bearings don't come off. Make sure you paint the rotor hubs before installing to prevent rust (assuming they aren't already painted.)

While the brakes are coming off, the brake lines are NOT disconnected. You do NOT (and should not) disconnect the brake lines.

Kris, thanks for your video in detail. My steer wheel tends to vibrate, I assume that I have warped rotor, is the front rotor warped or rear rotor warped? Thanks
@KrisKasprzak
@KrisKasprzak 8 жыл бұрын
if your steering wheel vibrates all the time it's probably wheel balancing or wheel alignment, or worn tires. If your steering wheel vibrates only when you apply the brakes, it's probably the rotors. Replace them, don't try to have them turned, once they are warped, they really cant be fixed reliably.

Why are you supposed to attach only 1 clip to each brake-pad, and why is it supposed to be on the top instead of the bottom of the pads? What would happen if you attached a clip on the bottom instead? And what is wrong with attaching clips on both top AND bottom at the same time?

Hi Kris, Can I ask how many miles on your camry when you change your break pad? I am also a Camry owner and I am glad that post these awesome videos here!
@KrisKasprzak
@KrisKasprzak 9 жыл бұрын
+刘航成 you will laugh at this response but my Camry had around 80,000 miles when i change the brake pads. The pads were fine and had a lot of life left in them, the only reason i changed them is to avoid the brake dust. The factory pads were very dust producing, my Aekobonos produce very little dust. Sounds like a silly reason (and it probably is), but dusty wheels was driving me crazy.

+Kris Kasprzak Thank you so much sir! I am studying at library and didn't bring a headphone so I didn't listen the audio part. My Camry is still young and it only has less than 30,000miles now. Probably won't change that for a long time and my LE version doesn't have a alloy rim. Love this car and I want to do so much on it by myself!
