Toyota Camry Valve Cover Gasket Replacement (2008)(3.5L 6 Cylinder Engine)

This is a step by step tutorial on how to replace your valve cover gasket on a 2008 Toyota Camry 3.5L 6 Cylinder Engine. This will work for Toyota Camry years 2007-2011. If your valve cover gasket is worn out, it can lead to spontaneous vehicle failure, or overheating issues as you drive. It will also leak engine oil and the top of the engine will likely be covered in oil. It can expose your engine to dirt, debris and other pollutants with the ability to cause permanent damage. You'll need to get an immediate replacement to prevent serious damage to your engine.

Hey thanks for watching. Unfortunately the vehicles owner had already replaced the rear gasket previously and then it started leaking from the front valve cover so that’s why I only had the chance to repair the front. I apologize for the confusion.

I noticed the the upper "dog bone" motor mount is wore out imo i would have replaced it while i was there. And also clean the valve cover with some brake cleaner before reinstalling it 😊.otherwise great video. 😊

Torque specs as follows. 10mm= 7 LB-FT 12mm= 15LB-FT 17MM Banjo Bolt = 48 LB-FT

rear side way more difficult - wait till you have to get to the extra hard plenum bolt towards the passenger side - yea you know the one im talking about

Hey thanks for watching. I actually went to Advanced Auto Parts and bought the kit there. As for the screws I kinda have a good memory from doing it so much but what you can do is either take pictures or a video of everything before you start or get a shoe box or something and poke holes in it and put the screws in there kind of in the same shape as the valve cover to help you keep track of them. Hope this helped.

Tube seals upside down. The OEM are different so it's hard to tell. The instructions that come with the fel pro tell you

We put them in exactly how the vehicle manufacturer recommended because we seen the felpro instructions but chose to go the route the vehicle manufacturer suggested. So far no issues thanks for the tip I’ll actually try the felpro way next time to see if there’s any difference.

@@ucanfixit1 I have. 5.5 Hours to get the plenum off. There are three nuts in the back are a pain. and TWO different size nuts. Found out the hard way. 2 of them at 10 mm and one at 12 MM I think? You cant see them and have to cram your hand and feel them. I got it now but ugh.

the tube seals seem to be upside down. take a look at "Tips for installing press-in-place valve cover gasket" by Fel-Pro Gaskets.
