Even wealthier areas aren't immune because the poor and desperate have subsidized bus passes, and will often just ride around on busses all day to have some form of shelter. Crime is rampant and basically unpunished due to extreme leftist DAs having huge election budgets thanks to billionaires who seem to want to watch everything crash and burn. Probably so they can install private police, private courts, and private jails and make a killing doing it.

My sister and I were on the market for new cars, we looked in to toyota, I was looking for a hybrid rav4 she was looking for a corolla. The first dealer was selling the rav4 for 44k, they wanted 32k for the corolla, we went to four dealers, they either wanted us to pay crazy mark ups or buy an used car. We ended up going with mazda..

Scotty I went to my local Toyota dealership in Dec, wanted to buy a new set of wheels. Lifelong Toyota driver, I'm 55. They said there's a 6 month waiting period. I bought a CX-5 a week later. Our loyalty only goes so far Toyota.

For a RAV4 hybrid I was told 6-12 months. For a Corolla Cross I was told 6 months for IC, 6-12 months for hybrid. I called other Toyota dealers in my province, British Columbia, and they won’t sell new cars out of their area. I was told it’s to help out their service department.

I purchaed new Subaru Forester in early December 2023. While waiting to take ownership of the Forester I had an interesting conservation with the sales manager. The Subaru dealer had one Subaru electric vehicle on the lot. The sales manager told me another Subaru dealer in Tennessee call him requesting transferring electric Subaru to that particular dealership. He said he immediately loaded the vehicle on a one vehicle transport and off it went. He was afraid the dealer requesting the electric Subaru would change their mind. He was honest......stating there was zero interest in the Subaru electric vehicle.

Two friends of mine bought fiats, long ago. an About six months apart. The older car would break down first, say the fan belt broke. Six months later, the newer one would have the same breakdown. Same thing went on and on, like clockwork: radiator hoses, carburetor jets, clutch cables- tick-tock, just like clockwork.

The only electric car Toyota produces is BZ4X and it's gotten panned by car reviewers (including EV enthusiasts). I got a Prius Prime: from what I can see, current allocations are still pretty rare and sell immediately. I really like the Prime. I can do my daily driving in EV, and then state highway driving in hybrid mode.

In November I bought a 2024 RAV4 XLE. This was in Maryland and they had to get it in.Virginia. I had to pay sticker price. They wouldn’t deal but there was no markup. I got $1,000 off for financing it with them at a ridiculous rate of 8% for 4 years but I just paid the whole thing off on the first payment. Things aren’t like they used to be.

@@FrunkensteinVonZipperneck all of the ev truck, the ICE truck can do long haul and heavy duty business. The most important part is the battery is too heavy and too expensive to replace . The bigger battery need longer time to charge. The only solution is fast charging but it will kill your batteries faster too. I am waiting for a hydrogen fuel cell truck ( for green mind) or plug in hybrid truck for an environmental friendly and long distance driving balance.

If you're driving these electric cars to go long distance. You're going to be very disappointed especially when it's cold. But I don't drive very far. And you have to have a pre warm battery. I had no problem I don't mind I haven't bought gas in years. My electric is free you have to have a place to charge them

EV's are still experimental, basically just expensive golf carts unsuitable for real world needs. In the future, say another 5- 10 years MINIMUM when they come out w truly AFFORDABLE cars / small trucks (And PLEASE not only tiny fugly sh*t boxes lol!) that can charge in UNDER 10 MINUTES, maybe they will be more acceptable. A lot of us simply have NO PLACE to charge overnight, or even 2-4 hrs at home. At work there are too few chargers. And MORE than half the time the same Tesla's and others are ALWAYS hogging the spots all damn day. Even if I had an EV I'd be screwed dealing w that! Affordable hybrid MIGHT be viable, but no way I'd bother w any EV yet, even if they were a 10th the cost of a gas car! 🔌⚡

Sold my 06 tundra, great truck. Had it for 6 years. Had to get a bigger truck. So I got a 92 f350 4 door dually. Man that thing has got some torque. I’m not ever gonna own a “newer gen” truck. The oldies have spoiled me with the ease of maintenance and repairability. You look under the hood, what you see if what you get.

2 cars that would be great in the USA would be the Toyota Hilux Champ and the Dacia Sandero. Unfortunately, both are not allowed because of safety regulations and the EPA, which on the Champ is understandable because no airbags, but the Sandero dies due to EPA stuff and presumably a lack of backup camera, but with both you know what you are getting. With the Champ you are getting a customizable work truck made for being a blank slate, and the Sandero is a cheap car made out of older Renault parts.

@@karlwithak. I imagine the corporate and fleet procurements have the advantages of scale the everyday consumers don’t have access to. When I say price point and infrastructure I’m referring to everyday consumers being able to afford a household EV and to have access to EV charging infrastructure to make it possible to use one as an everyday driver and not fear the dreaded “range anxiety”. I live in a relatively built up area when it comes to EV infrastructure but even still charging stations are far less common then Gas Stations still. I’m a big fan of the potential of EVs but the market and infrastructure just aren’t fully developed imo. Now give it another 5-10 years and I think you’ll see a major shift in favor of EVs in terms of availability affordability and practicality.

But the actual cost of the vehicles is higher and the availability of charging infrastructure is still in its infancy. According to KBB in 2023 the average cost of an EV in the US as $53,469 vs $48,334. Not a massive difference but also not an insignificant one

My 2018 was totalled a couple years. Damage was on the driver's side taillight and passenger after it was spun by a transport and smashed on the centre median. Side airbags popped and rear passenger tire snapped of the suspension

Having own 2023 Sienna Hybrid and 2023 Bolt EUV, I would pick both of them again. Sienna has lots of room for driver and passengers, gives 600 miles on 18 gallons of fuel, perfect for long drive. Bolt EUV gives 250 miles on full charge, cost about $9 to full charge at home, zippy to drive, and perfect for commuter car. Ev has limitations, especially for long range and can be very expensive if you rely on public charges. I will be paying around 24K OTD after tax rebate for EUV with heated and ventilated leather seats, heated steering wheels, Apple/android wireless auto , wireless charger just to name few convenience features. We can hardly find ICE vehicle with that feature in that price.

Even if you don’t want an electric car you are still paying for one when you buy an ICE vehicle. A Ford F150 ice has been Ford’s best selling vehicle for years. The price of the F150 coincidentally increased at the same time Ford dove head first into the EV market. They had to cover their losses somehow.

Scotty, how about a video on the Honda Civic GX factory built CNG - compressed natural gas cars built from 1998 - 2015 model years? Honda should make these again, over 1,700 public fueling pumps nationwide and you can home fuel if you have nat gas at your house for about 80 cents @ gal, like I do. They get outrageous mileage vs gas Civic and have Honda quality. I've been running these for over 10 years, use them for gig work and airport runs. I'll drive to your place so you can check it out - 2013 GX. Why half our cars aren't CNG powered is beyond me - cleanest on earth.

The starter on my 2000 ranger lasted 234k miles and 23 years. It was just over a hundred bucks but it was a pain to swap out for something with just three bolts. Now that cars shut down at every stop light and start 15 times per trip, I wonder how often they'll have to replace the starting motors.

Not desperate where i live … recently was quoted over $1000 for a 31000 car like it was completely normal. Honestly though i have never met a decent Toyota dealership anywhere i have lived. They are always taking advantage of people. Thats the real problem Toyota has. Fix the dealerships and the vehicles sell themselves just fine.

The funny part about "truck people" is most of them drive less than 60 miles a day, but still complain about wanting a reliable truck. Most truck people I know, drive pavement princesses, they DO NOT get them for hauling, or doing any kind of actual work you would need a truck for. Where I live, gasoline is $4 per gallon and electricity is 44¢ per kwh. It takes about 25 kwh for an electric car to go 100 miles, therefore the Prius at 55 mpg is much less expensive to run....7¢ per mile with the Prius vs 11¢ for a typical electric car. Wait, there's more; the Prius pays a road tax of 70¢ per gallon in my state (state and federal gas tax). Electric cars currently pay zero gas tax. That clearly has to change. The Prius is much lighter so less wear and tear on the roads.
