I wanted to switch to something slightly bigger from my Honda Fit, so I had the Honda H-RV in mind. Just didn’t work out no matter how hard I tried, so I thought about a RAV4, which is considerably bigger. However, I saw a C-HR in the Toyota lot and thought I’d give it a try. Loved it! But that all-white one didn’t have the lane-assist features I’ve been wanting for a very long time for safety. Funnily enough, literally as I was walking out of the lot feeling defeated, a Hot Lava C-HR just like what you’re driving in the video rolled in for trade. The rest is history. I absolutely LOVE my C-HR. Nicest car I’ve ever owned in my life, not to mention having apple car play has been such a blessing!

Hi Bob, for a some time I am watching the videos you publish in internet. Some of them I personally find very interesting and impressive. What I really missed are videos and comments like this one you have published about the history of e-cars and their impact on the environment. I will appreciate very much if you make a short clip about that how the personal vehicles affecting our daily life and lifestyle...especially how the cars change the spaces we share, especially in big metropolitans. How the personal vehicle reflect to our human nature and what are the negative as well as positive effects of that.

I have been a fan of Toyota since I was very young (since 1993). This car at least stands out for being distinctive unlike so many very previous Toyotas. However this C-HR does not fare well in terms of reliability which has long been regarded as the most appealing aspect of Toyota ownership. A friend of mine bought one brand new in 2018 and treats it like a baby. He had a serious issue with the car stalling. It was under warranty and brought it to our local Toyota dealer (Brian Geary Limerick). The VVT-I controller, oil control bolt and camshaft had to be replaced. The main reason I would buy a Toyota is reliability(although I now drive a Mazda, so far flawless since 2014). I seriously hope this was an exception and Toyota is not going downhill in terms of reliability in order to reduce costs. If this will be the case going forward I could never consider purchasing a Toyota unless it was built in Japan. Only a Toyota/Lexus built in Japan would be appealing in terms of reliability and build quality.

OK, watching your video just a bit further. I recognize that running a Skoda Fabia estate, I received the longer end of the stick. By that, I sort of realize that a «shining new design» can not replace the concept of «enough». Space, comfort and power could just be compacted into a simple and honest design. Without the outrageous design elements. Thus reconsidering, go for «enough»!

Cool intro, Bob! Maybe the CH-R refresh is sculpted to extract the most amount of profit & value to build for Toyota, but it beggars belief how the punchier 2.0l hybrid that was almost exclusive in the Corolla can now be fitted in the new CH-R, but not for the more capacious Prius for that matter - all TNGA-C. Edit: the eCVT is a simple and overlooked thing. It's essentially a Ford Model T -like planetary gearbox. But instead of 2 clutches to engage the gears, there are two large electric motors that use their variable rpms to create the many gear ratios for the engine as well as electricity genetation.
@BobFlavinVideo4 жыл бұрын

Its just a more efficient petrol engine, nothing more, nothing less. Driving downhill tends not to need gas to move the car anyway. Mild hybrid is veey common now. If range is a concern then why not a diesel _ range is the same if not longer and car tax is lower. You can even find mild hybrid diesels.
@damianroddis43012 жыл бұрын
But diesels are shocking round town the CHR DOES 80/85 mpg round town and 70 mpg on the motorway I have one a 2020 plate so I’d say it’s better than diesel for economy I’ve had both types.
@stephendoherty82912 жыл бұрын
@@damianroddis4301 No diesels are good around town. They're built for longer trips at constant speeds or very low temp driving. Hence their application in long haul/high torque requirement/towing/low speed requirements
