Fantastic video - sending my thanks to RB the Mechanic! It is so helpful to have DIY videos posted by experienced car mechanic like RB because the repair advice is so helpful and accurate. I used this video to diagnose and fix my cylinder-misfiring 2009 Corolla in about 1 hr for the cost of a $100 replacement ignition coil. A Toyota dealership probably would have charged me $800 for that same repair job.

I want to thank you because everything you said happened to me and I managed to solve it myself! I went to the parts store and asked to scan it with the machine and saw the error. After that I bought an engine coil and did the test. only one was damaged. I was driving before and saw that I was taking a long time to shift gears and shaking a lot. Now everything is resolved. Thank you very much once again!

22 manual Corolla hatchback… I had a random misfire code (P0304) one day after reaching 30k miles. But I also noticed that sometimes the power drops randomly when revving hard/ accelerating quick. I have an after market midpipe and quads… you think a tune might get rid of this problem? I mean the car is so new I should need any new coils

Oh ok I can’t say it would get rid of the issue but that is the only starting point check for oil leak inside spark plug bore and on coils before replacing anything

I started my 2013 Corolla yesterday morning. It idle'd rough for 10 seconds. I revved it a little. It idle'd normal. This morning I checked the codes. PO303. I cleared the code. Started it. It ran normal. Do coil's that are going bad do this? Meaning, they can cause a rough idle. But then act normal. So, they are "going bad". But aren't "bad" just yet?

My coils keep going bad, ignition coil in cylinder 4 had to be replaced twice about 2-4 months ago and now cylinder 3 is having a misfire. Is it possible that something is overloading my coils, like high resistance in the wires or a bad ecu ?

Yo bro I just left car on and disconnected all 4 coils one by one and they all pretty much made the car idle different so that might be a spark plug ? I just put new sparks and the car already has a slide weird shake and idle rn that’s why I’m checking the spark plugs I had a code for spark 3 I changed all 4 sparks and bought coils from junk all 4 couldn’t afford new I went back to check engine light again after changing all that (and it did make my car drive better at the time cause it was kinda shaking then like it just started now) but when I went back to check light it said cylinder 4 bad now and 3 still and I just tested them do you think it’s the coils still or the sparks ? I have the original four that was in there when it only said cylinder 3 so I should have 3 good coils should I try just swaping the 3 cylinder and 4 and see if that make it better ?

what if i get a P0300, and a P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304 but my engine runs fine? is that just a vacuum leak in the intake somehow? almost like a bad/dirty FITV? on a 2001 Toyota celica btw
