In this video i will be demonstrating the steps to removing the engine coolant bypass hose. when the coolant bypass hose is bad, you will get an "engine required" message displayed in your combination meter.

You have time. I've seen customers prolonging it for weeks before getting it repaired. It will NOT cause the car to overheat.

Great video! One hint, you don’t have to drain the coolant. You don’t lose much replacing the valve. Once the new valve is installed, top off the reservoir and get the engine to operating temperature to “burp” the system and remove any air pockets, then top off the reservoir and you’re good to go. Make sure to use the pink super long life coolant (SLLC) premix and don’t add any water.

I just did an alignment and oil change and new tune up and changed one of the coils and still I get engine maintenance light.

Coolant over time seeps through the connector and short the terminal pins together.

How do you remove the electrical connecter? You did not describe how to do the removal.

There is a connector tab facing towards the windshield. You need to press on the tab and pull up

@@TheYotaChannel Thanks! I had used a mirror to locate the tab towards the windshield side of the connector about halfway down and in the middle. I had to press only in the middle of the connector and was able to pull up.

There are two very similar valves for the 2021 Corolla 2.0 liter with CVT: The one EVERYONE changes (16671-F2010) and another for the CVT (transmission). How do we get to that second valve (16671-F2020), and how do we test it?

Yes, you don’t have to drain the coolant. You don’t loose much when replacing the valve. Just make sure to top off the level in the reservoir, get the engine to operating temperature to “burp” any air pockets and then top off the reservoir level again.
