Great video! One hint, you don’t need to drain the coolant. You don’t lose very much replacing the valve. Once the new valve is installed, top off the reservoir and get the engine to operating temperature to “burp” the system and remove any air pockets, then top off the reservoir again and you’re good to go. Make sure to use the pink super long life coolant (premix) and don’t add any water.

The fact that this code has a specific warning message means they knew about it at the time of production
@Billy-zo9bk2 ай бұрын
It could be, but there also could be a system wide. check in place that knows what should be there and if it doesn't provide resistance/connectivity back it knows there is something wrong with it. But to be cynical and agree with you, oh yeah they definitely know certain things and with how these cars have the capability to communicate with radio (remote start from app etc) they can send ALL SORTS of information down to oil temp/level as these have oil levels sensors back to Toyota and I wouldn't be surprised if the OS inside these things allow them to "turn off" certain electronics. Scary world, the future of all electrics and that's why govt funded corporations are pushing those things so hard...but with how many electronics are in this and other cars, it's not much of a difference.

There is now a Customer Support Program for this 24TE04, so Toyota will replace the valve for free if you have the "Engine Maintenance Required" message on screen. Apparently there is a new part number for the replacement valve so hopefully this will fix the problem permanently. Everyone should be receiving letters in the mail from Toyota about this now. thx for the vid tho very informative
