The Lovely Bride and I purchased a low mileage 2023 Tacoma SR5 4X4 double cab two days ago and will be taking it to the largest, best equipped, and well-staffed Toyota dealership for the recall covered in this video on 11/29/2024. We were wondering what was involved in correcting the problem and now we know! Thanks for informing us!!!

I have experience with three different Toyota dealerships. All three have displayed incompetency when it comes to the technicians working on my two Tacomas and a Highlander. Specific instructions and requests were never followed, interior of the vehicles were dirtied, paint scratches, and on the Highlander the oil drain plug was not installed properly and the vehicle was leaking. People need to understand that with “free” service you run a high chance of having some moron mess up your car. I had a camera hard wired into my truck and I have solid proof of the incompetency that I speak of. I will perform my own detailed inspection for sure. I have already done a basic inspection and marked the nuts with an ink marker and so far no movement. Having said all that, no not all techs are morons but most are not experienced and don’t have the passion to treat people’s cars with respect. So be warned that you as a customer will probably experience some BS, specially if you know about cars like I do, and no I am not a know it all lol.

One of the few brave enough to try an in-inverter repair. Thank you. If I think my inverter's cooling channels are clogged is it worth it to try and unclog them do you think?

I was thinking of doing this to my 2011 IS250 AWD. I just hit 150,000 miles and I don’t think the previous owner did any service of this kind to the transmission. I talked to a mechanic and they said not to because it was too late and I should just hope for the best. Any advice, should I do this?

My connector is now a bit loose and unable to click to bypass the valve. I possibly broke the clip when removing first time. What is my option to secure the connector to bypass valve now. Your video at 0:51. I possibly dropped the attachment. Let me know. Thanks.

I recommend taking high quality interior photos/videos of the head liner areas since there are people in the Grand highlander facebook group who basically had damage on the panels and materials where the replacement takes place.

Excellent advise. Every 5K. I use Kirkland 5w-30 full synthetic and OEM filter on a 2006 Matrix 4WD with over 226,000 miles....and it runs perfect. I also do a drain and fill on Trans (Type-IV OEM), Diff, and TC (Mobil 1 75w-90 Synthetic) every 30k. Just put a set of Michelin Defenders on it.

Where can i get information or where or who do i call to regarding this customer confidence program for their inverter?...im having an issue now where they replaced a catalyic converter, but somehow in their care the hybrid system indicator came on and they are saying the hybrid inverter failed...so they may be quoting me 4500 to replace the inverter...and if program covers 20 years (does it require enroll in a warranty program?)...try and get them to replace it for free..not trying to dish out 4500 when i already dished out 1k for an insurance claim repair of my catalyic

Guys, with many manufacturers going to the small displacement turbo or twin turbo engines, you REALLY need to change that oil and filter often! With a turbo direct injection engine, do NOT go over 5,000 miles with that oil change. Better to go 3,000 or 4,000 miles. Those engines are very sensitive to clean oil. Your engine may be spinning at 3,000 RPM for example, but the turbo impeller might be going as high as 20,000 to 25,000 RPM! All those bearings and so forth use engine oil to stay cool. So the oil has to work much harder in these turbo engines compared to naturally aspirated. If you live in a hot climate and have one of these engines, change that oil every 3,000. Take care.

Just a FYI - Australian ONLY use the diesel derivative of this engine and like their V8 used in the 200 series, the new V6 is falling over. Seems Toyota may have lost their #1 position! Just Autos are a Toyota 4x4 tuning specialist here in Oz and have bought a couple of the new engines to play with to figure how to solve the issues being experienced ..

Also it depends on the driver’s behavior on the road, high stress or tough conditions such as stop and go suddenly, it may cause rapid degradation of oil even though full synthetic brands, specially for those who go offroad.

What are your thoughts on using a slightly thicker viscosity like 5w-30 instead of the 0w-20 on these 2GR-FKS if I live in south Texas where’s it’s extremely hot most of the year?

Excellent video, I wanted to ask a question for a 2020 Corolla with 4 cylinder. By any change will this coolant bypass valve Cause the vehicle not start but crank. I have the maintenance required light also on but I also been getting these other code U0100/U0101/U010087 and also on the indicator with driver malfunction unit, brake override malfunction, brake low power. With the ecm/tcmbeing close to that valve or possibly share a wire or pin, would this by any chance cause the vehicle to crank but not start? New battery and the stop fuse check and was good but still replaced.
@TheYotaChannel
@TheYotaChannel 15 күн бұрын
Hey, thank you for the super thanks. The bypass valve failure WILL NOT cause the engine to crank and not start. The U0100 is a lost communication code with the ECM(engine control moddule) that can cause the symptoms you are describing.
