I have a 2008 Toyota Corolla CE with a five-speed manual, same color as this one. Like you, I love it. Fun to drive, smooth, comfortable, and a very intuitive layout of the dash panel. I could not be happier. I bought it in 2018 with 65,000 miles on it. Now in 2023 it has 113,500 and I could not be happier with it. I get upper 20's to lower 30's mpg in the city and mid to upper 30's on the freeway. A couple of times I got 40 mpg while driving 75 mph all day long. Absolutely super. I'll be driving this car for a good long while.

I am the original owner of a 2007 Corolla S 5-speed and still have it as of 7-2024. It doesn’t burn or leak oil. I’ve read where the older models of this engine burn oil so mine is one of the last. I change the oil myself every 5k miles. It has 140k miles now. The car is perfect nothing has ever gone wrong. I love this car it’s fun to drive. When my daughter was learning to drive this is the car she learned from. So she learned how to drive a manual at age 14. I learned at age 16. I highly recommend this car if you find one that is clean and been taken care of. 9th gen Corolla.

I haven't driven a Corolla since I test drove a 92 about 20 years ago. Two observations: Toyota stuck with a 97-98 inch wheelbase LONG after Honda opened the Civic up with a 102 inch wheelbase...those 4 inches made a big difference in my ability to get comfortable behind the wheel. Ford also had the Escort on a 98 inch wheelbase at this time. I couldn't even get into the front seat of an Escort. I would be willing to bet this car was on its way to the local car auction when you " saved " it. Whatever you paid, Winchester Toyota was happy to get for it, they had all but written it off. Nowadays, almost no one wants a sedan, and certainly not one that doesn't have all the safety features currently known to exist...except folks like us (those watching your video) who understand what diamonds in the rough this type of car is, ESPECIALLY with that manual transmission.

Not sure what you're talking about with oil leaking everywhere. The only problems I've had with mine after 240,000 miles is the valve cover gasket recently went, which was cheaply replaced, and the timing chain tensioner which was also easily replaced. Other than that it's been and still is a super reliable and leak free car.
@JDdrives04064 жыл бұрын
I had a 2005 corolla with 245,000 miles that the only problem it had was it consumed a quart of oil every 1,500 miles
@randalhill62834 жыл бұрын
@@JDdrives0406 that sounds about right. It was either leaking oil out of the timing chain tensioner or timing chain itself needed be changed out. Mine did that until I took care of those two things. The timing chain tensioner was surprisingly cheap. Only 25 bucks. Right now I'm about to change out the two front CV axles. And those are really cheap to. Less than a hundred bucks for both of them.

I have had two Corollas. Both manual one was a 2004 S and the second a 2005 S. Both have had really high clutch engagement. My dad who also owned one said it had a really high clutch. It's just a Corolla thing I guess.
@randomvideoconnoisseur5633 жыл бұрын
@@jacobnelson1 Thank you for letting me know this because I had wondered if the high clutch was caused by last owner's driving habits or something. I heard somewhere if you don't press the clutch all the way to the floor every time the clutch engagement point will get higher up over time. Is this true, or is it just a Corolla thing like you said?
@jacobnelson13 жыл бұрын
@@randomvideoconnoisseur563 I honest have no idea if it gets higher overtime or not, but you can always adjust the clutch engagement to be lower or higher according to your comfort. Also every Corolla I have owned has been used. But they were both single owner vehicles and had owners who both knew how to drive stick previously. So I personally do think that it is just a Corolla thing, but it is definitely nothing to worry about as long as your clutch doesn't slip.

Any corolla from 03-08 is definitely worth it. I have a 2005 in an automatic and that thing has over 245,000 miles and always starts right up like I just drove it.
