Thanks for posting this video! I found a quicker/easier way to replace these little bulbs at least for my 2010 Corolla. I started off my removing the ashtray, then the part where it has the aux and clock, and then removing the entire dash lamp/controls itself. I then followed your steps of how to remove it individually, BUT I found out that detaching the 2nd white part of the control is unnecessary. Just flip the control upside down and use a small flathead to unscrew the bulb and then insert your new bulb and use the flathead to screw in the bulb until it’s tight. And this applies to the other 2 controls, remove it individually and just flip it upside down to unscrew the bulb with a small flathead. This saves SO much time. I ordered the 3 new light bulbs from a Toyota Dealership & the total was less than $16. It looks great!! Yay.

100 % easier. I had to replace the middle dial and the bulbs were all blown. This was much easier for me to just flip the whole part over and replace. Thank you!

Kate maglalang mine bulb just went out 2012 Corolla can you do a video of the quicker/easer way that you just mentioned
@gonzalotapia1250 Жыл бұрын
1:17 Save yourself all the hazzle. Remove just the cables. Once you got the entire assembly out, turn it over and grab a flat screwdriver. There is a white part where you can put a screwdriver and unscrew, exactly in the middle of the back of the knobs (you can see it, when you replace the bulb, at 3:47). Replace the bulbs, connect all the cables, replace assembly

This is a T4 bulb, I changed it to the LED one which is brighter. But I don't dismantle the whole front part of the knot to change it. I approach from the back where there is a opening. Just use a thin long legs plier to grab the back of the bulb, turn and pull. Much easier

I have bulbs burned out on my 2013 and I tried to fix it, nothing but frustration. I bought the wrong bulbs, so that didn't help anything, and in the process of disassembling the center knob I broke it so now it doesn't have stops at each number. I can't believe they made this thing so damn complicated to fix a simple little light bulb.
@SevenFortyOne5 жыл бұрын
I don't think the bulbs are expected to fail. Having said that I wonder why they didn't use LEDs

@@SevenFortyOne I just bought a whole climate control assembly (all 3 knobs and the faceplate) from an Ebay parts store. It didn't cost me that much more than it would have to buy 3 new bulbs, and it will be a whole lot easier just replacing the whole assembly. Great video though, I'll definitely pull it up again when I need to separate the front end from those rear pieces on the old one then re-install the new one.

The dial knob got out of position and so it took about 5 tries to get it right. Overall 1.5 hrs. Both the back ring gear side and the dial knob have hard stops, which you'd find if you can't get full travel. So do yourself a favor a rotate everything one way to begin. The snap fits were poorly located and toleranced and the assembly was not designed for ease, so expect a lot more hassle than is shown.

For anyone about to do this project, to avoid this issue, just hit the 3 pieces with a sharpie line through all 3, so you can make sure all the piece are lined up correctly for reassembly.
