I replaced the center auto shifter back light. I just kept the cover off. Nice and bright but not overwhelming. Made sure i didn't tiuch it with my bare hands. Ill have to explore this one. Wonder if the bulb i used for the auto back light will work with hvac backlight. Thanks for the video. Glad you were specific. Too many videos are vague and dont help

I haven't had to replace that backlight yet.... but it wouldn't surprise me if they're the same. I'm glad you found the video! I'll keep doing more, but the thing just runs most of the time. It's very dependable!

There is a rheostat dimmer switch (rotary) on the dash, just below the drivers cupholder in the dash. Make sure that is turned up. Please let me know if that answers your question.

Thank you Sir for the video. In my case, the lights of the climate control sometimes switches on, sometimes off- mostly it turns off when i put in on the Nr. 2 power. And sometimes while driving it starts to turn on again by itself. Do you think changing the bulb will fix it or there is maybe another cause to it?
@89G4 күн бұрын
Mine was also intermittent. I could make it turn on by tapping the climate control knob. So yes, I think yours could also benefit from changing the bulb. Great question!!
@89G4 күн бұрын
I misspoke. Rather, when I tapped on the fan control knob, it would turn back on. DOH!!

Thank you for your infos Sir. Another question: Have you also ever had the problem that the display for the time/average fuel-usage on the right side of the bordcomputer does not show off? Mine does not work since ca. 5000KM and nothing happens when i press the button on the right. Somebody told me to remove the plus plug from the battery for ca. 3 hours and this would resett the electrical system, which maybe could help. Do you have any idea or would agree with him? I am not so well experienced with mechanical/electrical things. @89G
@89G4 күн бұрын
@marcoquattroventi7888 I've never dealt with that, sorry. Removing the negative cable might do something, but my gut feeling is no. A lot of electronics are susceptible to heat, especially in the window like that. My best guess is that you have a bad solder joint, and the solder may need re-flowed. This is a fairly common issue on domestic vehicles.
@marcoquattroventi78884 күн бұрын
@89G thank you ! And I corrected it to "plus" , because he suggested to remove the plus and not the minus cable from the battery.

I have original radio/cd player, I think it's harder to do. Do I have to remove radio first, not sure.
@89G Жыл бұрын
That's a great question. I'm guessing no. I don't see any reason it would need to be removed to get to the climate control panel. If my memory serves me correctly, you have to disassemble it this far to get to the 4 screws that hold the factory stereo in there. So, I feel pretty confident saying no, you won't have to remove it.
@kulab55511 ай бұрын
My car has the original stock radio too. You have to remove all four bolts from it to move it a little bit upside. Without it you cannot remove the lower plastic
