Love the series! This is a common problem in many echos, mine including, you have to put some electrical grease when re-installing coils, because water seems to be dripping near the oil filler cap which is right next to cylinder #1 due to windshield washer nozzle which is dripping when it rains even slightly, better seal that thing too. Echo is a beast, cheers from Latvia Please do a video on: throttle body cleaning, timing chain tensioner replacement (common oil leak, exessive in my case), how to diagnose bad injectors

same problem here but i change the head gasket and it still does it about every 6 mos. another way to check coil is to take it out and hold it about 1 inc away from the top of engine , if no shark its bad . i also have a radiator code so i know the water im finding in shark plug hole is from engine coolant, it look real muddy . so i pull the shark plug hole ,cleaning it out with a rag and putting a dry shark plug and coil pack back in. its more than condensation. 250,000 miles maybe heads. by the car still runs great.

2000 with 315k still going pretty strong, it has a dual function 'turbo' switch (the A/C button) :D... had to finally replace the valve cover gasket and it was very 'crispy' (valve guide seals next) ... I had this problem a time or two also.. I removed that cover back in the day and left it off.. then had the dreaded 'water shorting the boot' issue.. put the cover back on and after a heavy downpour there is water all around the oil cap lip area and even some next to coil pack 1 BOOM! Im gonna fab a cover to go on top of that one which will span the whole shebang! I think it comes from the washer nozzle opening.. L

At 200000 the bearing on the clutch for the compressor shit the bed and left me stranded while on Vacation and finding a replacement was fun. I was going to try and get the serpentine belt to spin with a shorter belt? Found an ac compressor after a few days and was able to travel again.

Common issue, its just rain, change the coil, plug and add rtv between the rubber and valve cover. How would a bad head gasket get coolant in the socket well, it makes absolutely no sense.
@emmaleighhughes592 жыл бұрын
The water is getting through from the hole in the hood where the windshield sprayers nozzles connect and if the ring around the coil has failed or is missing allowing water right in that first coil due to it lining almost directly over the coil in number one cylinder making its way thru the beauty cover around oil cap allowing water to fill up spark plug recess little silicone around that plastic nozzle on the underside of the hood should do the trick my issue was really missing from previous owner changing spark plugs neglecting to put the ring back in place causing engine light to come on and severe shaking at stop light while in gear easy fix though

@thousanddollarcarguy5 жыл бұрын
You will probably have to remove the belt. I believe there is a clip that holds it shut. But the belt will most likely have to go all the way back in the holder before it can come all the way back out and be bolted back in.

Mine does the same every time it rains and leave it out for longer periods... then I drain the coil tube before removing the spark plugs, i get water, not coolant... but I only get water into two of the coil tubes, the other two remain dry... I recently changed the gaskets on all the coils will see how that works...

CONDENSATION I thought?? on #1 spark plug socket well. I'm on my 3rd. Echo (2 car accidents destroyed my previous 2). Water collection has happened on my #1 (far left side of engine) spark plug socket with each of my 3 Echos (2000, 2001, 2003). So whenever I think of it, I'll check that socket well (after removing the coil pack and with the spark plug still in place) and blow it out/blow it dry with my air compressor, then remove the spark plug and see if all is well. I have found the spark plug to be prematurely degraded and the spark plug well wet when I have check them. It must be a re-occurring issue. I read another comment that the serpentine belt throws water up on top of the engine, then collects in the #1 socket, and that the water does not drain properly off that end of the top of the engine. And that is what I had always thought, but could not figure it out. I just assumed that water was condensing in the #1.
@pablojimenez57363 жыл бұрын
I have same problem miss fire in #1 and condensation in the ignition coil. I am trying lately to check a vacum leak because the IAC valve was clogged with carbon and I cleaned it and the throttle but it may be a leak for a light idle change.

I periodically check my #1 spark plug well because water has collected in it on each of my 3 Echos. I just pull the coil boot, and with the plug in place, and blow it out dry with my air compressor, then I pull the plug and check it and the coil to make sure they are ok.

Normal operating temperature is between 180 and 205 deg farenheit. Or 82 to 96 celcius. So if your at 95c running thats fine. If it went much higher it would mean something is failing. You should be fine.

Dear sir I have question about Toyota echo ...why when I start the car it take time to change the temperature gauge from red to blue to nothing ( 5 min ) to be ready to move ...,thanks for understanding
@thousanddollarcarguy4 жыл бұрын
The only thing changing red to blue is doing is reaching a certain operating temperature. You can drive the car without waiting for it. If the light stayed on red i would be concerned that it was overheating. But theres no reason you cant just start the car and go. If you lived in a very cold climate i would recommend letting the engine warm up before immediately taking a off. But if you live in a moderare climate i would just give the echo a few seconds after starting and then drive away.

@@KimoKimo-kw5iz make sure it doesnt have a head gasket leak. Check (while cold) to make sure you have coolant in the radiator. If coolant is getting into the combustion chamber it will die. Also proper battery voltage is important. What else does it do before it dies?

This is happening to me too. I resealed the wiper-fluid nozzle because I assumed that that was where the rainwater was coming from, but it didn't work. I still have water pooling up on that first coil. Have you figured out what to do?
@fibercouggocougs86564 жыл бұрын
@@clydebink the serpentine belt throws water up onto the top of the engine with number one cylinder getting the worst of it. After time the seal gets hard and allows water under it. Just use some RTV between the valve cover and the coil pack. This happened to me and I ended having to do both 1 and 2 cylinders. No issue after doing that.
