The Rubicon Unlimited is the ultimate 4x4. It's just a shame that it doesn't come with Toyota reliability.

I'm very tempted to get front locker (e-ton elocker vs a complicated air locker Kai has) for my stock 4Runner TRD Pro. But scared that stock tie rods and axles might not be able to handle that. Love the Wrangler Rubicon for having much stronger components. My buddy's Wranger Rubicon got the xtrem package that give 35in KO2s from factory. For $4000 its a killer package. You can never get all that components you get on that package after market for $4000.

Yea it always makes sense to get as much Offroad goodies as you can from manufacturers. As far as front locker, the question is would you ever need it to get home?

@@4WDisLife here I don't see slippery mud like you but I see snow and ice. When there is a cliff on one side I feel like having both rear and front lockers might be a good thing. Might use on some rocks for a smooth driving vs using A-Trac. Again not sure, may be more experience is all I need.

I don’t find front and rear lockers helpful in snow as much as mud and off camber terrain. Studded winter Nokians tho……kick butt. In snow and ice. It’s all about the sneakers

I have an '07 FJ (base, not TRD) and I love taking it out to Osceola National Forest (FL) and road trips to our property in Virginia all the time. Still considering getting a Gladiator Rubicon or a Sequoia for my next vehicle, though (I love my Toyota FJ but the overlanding we want to do will be putting her near or over her max tow capacity. ) Gonna keep my FJ till I die, though: she is too much fun.

I love the look of the fj cruiser andnthe 4 runner when they are all mod out and with big tires and extra roof fog light bar. Also the Raptor in blavk with fog lights is also sick. Landrovers are beautiful too but i think they are overpriced and dont have an advantage of a custom jeep or fj fruiser.

No comparison between a Toyota which lasts for generations and a Jeep which if used sparingly might last a good few years. That's the hard facts folks. Some people learn the hard way.
@off-roadingexplained8417 Жыл бұрын
Cherokee Trailhawk versus Wrangler ;-). I know Wrangler will flex more. It would just be fun to have a video showing the difference. You'll have to do a Cherokee Trailhawk with a 2 inch lift and upgraded tires to hit those trails but I think it will do it. You'll 100% have some teeter totter. I'd do it if I were close by. Not sure how it would do on rolling rock hill. Tires would need to be at 20-22 psi for sure. Maybe I'll rent a Wrangler one day and make the video. I know 3 people with Wranglers but none of them wheel lol. I've actually seen ZERO videos of a Cherokee Trailhawk at Famous Reading. There's not one video on All of KZbin.
@4WDisLife Жыл бұрын
I have some footages of a cherokee trailhawk, however, I didn't attempted these obstacles because it seemed a bit too much for it. I can post them up tho.
@fordfiveohh Жыл бұрын
@@4WDisLife yeah if the Cherokee didn't have a 2 inch lift and tires they are not near as capable but it's night and day difference with just the 2-in lift. Mostly the approach angle going from 29° to about 35° after lift and tires makes a huge difference. Lifted Cherokee Trail hawk is maybe like a stock Rubicon except for things that need a front locker.

@@Countrysideboy247 bro you really suggesting Toyota is unreliable? My last one did a million kilometres. My current holiday work car has 530k never rebuilt no major repairs just servicing and perishables! By far the most capable and reliable 4x4s in the world . If ya wanna go bush take a jeep if ya wanna come home take a Toyota! Haha

@@Countrysideboy247 oh I get it you think all off-roading is crawling up rocks cool ! Down under we use for everything from the beach to the mountains and the desert all zones the wrangler is out performed in all of those areas. And yes we need any vehicle to be capable of travelling huge distances in extreme temperature with some decent ability to be comfortable and reliable on and off road other areas it’s completely under gunned. If you love em cool I like them too I just wouldn’t own one. They tick one box out of many I need in a good vehicle. Saw a 3 year gladiator getting picked up by a tow truck last weekend.

@@Jameswoodgo I've seen 4runners snapping suspension components, tacomas blow their transmission and tacomas with blown engines. I see many many more wranglers going off road and yet I haven't seen one broken down. You're definitely confusing 20 years ago with today. Today Toyotas are dog water, a badge doesn't make it less worse.
@Jameswoodgo Жыл бұрын
@@SanctumOfDreams hahaha yep is that why jeep make the most unreliable brands list in every developed country every single year and Toyota tops the same list every year. The reason American Toyotas are much more unreliable is because they are assembled in the US just like jeeps. The grand Cherokee in wk2 had 6 recalls in Australia and the brand narrowly avoided triggering our lemon vehicle laws. The old jeeps with the 4.0 whilst lacking power with horrendous fuel economy were very reliable since then they are complete rubbish including the hemi’s. but the wrangler is a beat off road no doubt but ain’t no one taking them outback ever.

Why does the FJ always compete with 4dr Jeeps instead of the 2dr where the wheel bases are closer matched? Idc if the FJ has 4 doors, they're half door C pillars and the backseating is closer resembled to the 2dr models.. Use a 2dr Jeep next time please? You vids are good man.
