Thank you for your detail test which I find very interesting. I am very interest about the self generating diesel heater. Can you please show more detail about that heater how works about the power, I noticed you insert kinds of battery cells if so then how long it will last . I am trying to use my Honda Odyssey minivan when I am camping or when I am going long trips. I will look forward to your next video. Once again thank you for your hard work for people like me to have more knowledge about the diesel heater.

If you look at the angle they approached the jeep was more at an angle, the bronco went more straight at it and that’s why it didn’t titter. If the jeep approached it more head on and not so much of an angle I think it would have been more even. But the off set camber from the way the jeep approached it was why it struggled. I’m not biased at all, I own jeeps but I really like broncos as well. I just think the angle was the biggest difference. But they both climbed it really easily regardless.

Bummer you could not get the Big Buddy heater to work. That is what I use in my Kodiak Canvas Tent. Great information on both diesel heaters that I am considering to choosing. Still on the fence though with purchasing due to the pump clicking noise. Which one would you say is more noticeable when operating those heaters?
@4WDisLife

Thank you for the comment, I do think the big buddy heater would produce much more heat but the problematic starting kinda shows how this type of propane heater performs if not used for long time. I’d prefer LF bros personally since when you are inside of a tent or vehicle the wind noise is gone but the clicking sound is easily heard.
@skulledmonte84
@skulledmonte84 Күн бұрын
Lf bros does NOT have a "rounded molded plastic" bottom side like he says in the video..That is Quality cast metal aluminum..BIG difference........Also the exhaust should be pointed downwards., Not up like a tractor stack.They produce moisture which needs to drain. I'd rather listen to the "wind noise" then the loud clicking... Yes my punctuation isn't good.
@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife Күн бұрын
thanks for the correction and that was exactly my point, LF Bros has a better build and part quality, and yes I do prefer wind noise over clicking sound as well since when placing the heater outside the wind noise is reduced significantly and clicking noise can easily be heard.

On last weekend in september of this year i went from flagpole round down union sorings road after sunset in the fog. It took me 2 hours as i was having to get out of my colorado zr2 using my flashlight to see what line i needed to take to traverse the rock ledges. It had rained for several daus rsrlier that week so i had to go through about 5 long mud holes that were over 15 plus yards long and about 3 feet deep. Just hit the double licking differential button on my dash and easily drove through those mudholes. I have 34" tall tires (bfgoodrich all terrain ko2 size 285/75R18) which have good traction in mud and on rocky terrain.

The vehicle is extremely capable, 2.2 liter turbo diesel, an Eaton mechanical diff locker at the rear and electronic BLD at the front. Being a short wheelbase vehicle and short over hangs, approach and departure angles are terrific. Ohh and I have a ToughDog 50mm suspension lift kit on my vehicle.

So land cruiser has lockers and crawl control. Compared to the bronco model that didn’t have the front and rear lockers. And the boulders you put the bronco through at the end were what appeared to be a lot bigger. Need to get the bronco 4 door with the Sasquatch package to utilize lockers or the badlands Sasquatch with the sway bar disconnect and rock crawl mode it also has lockers. That would be a better comparison. Cool video though otherwise.

I would love a 590nm laser diode lamp with a clean cut of line. That way you get the best fog penetration and least glare of all systems
@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife 6 күн бұрын
Oof. That’d be nice. But just the two problems come to mind are: lifetime of laser is probably a lot less than led. And it’s probably not going to be road legal in most states haha.

@berndmanitzky1476 6 күн бұрын
@ Laser headlights are starting to be implemented by car manufacturers. So that should be ok. I don’t now about the runtime issues 🤷🏼 But fog needs a monochrome light source to be penetrated. Other than that: there is a company that sells low latency Flir style thermo cameras for cars. That should be one of your next tests. Please hit me up if you are interested. I would like to talk about a few real world test setups. Kind regards

Trying to use LED's as fog lights is like trying to mix oil and water. The short wave length really causes a lot of glare, regardless of beam pattern. This is where old fashion halogen fog lights work best. The very best fog lamps I've found are the old (no longer made) Hella 550FF lights. They are the old rectangle design, not the new style they now have. The key is the free form reflector that really controls light pattern from scatter. Fog can be a real PIA, sometimes it's so bad you're literally just using the light to look for the shoulder and center paint stripe so you stay on the road.
@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife 6 күн бұрын
Great points. I do feel like maybe halogen fogs would be a better choice given their color and wavelength. However it’s so hard to find halogen fogs nowadays.

@4WDisLife
@4WDisLife 6 күн бұрын
Great question, personally, I think the amber cover cuts too much output, and being good at what harbor freight light does, throwing insane amount of light 180 degrees in front of the vehicle, imo it just wasn’t mean to be used in a dense fog weather. However, in a good day, it’s one of my top three choices.

4Runner is a better choice overall, if all things are considered.(capability, all costs, looks, drivability, comfort, etc) To give the GX460 it's due though, the engine is more powerful, it's more luxurious and it's much more rare.
@getinthespace7715
@getinthespace7715 4 күн бұрын
I tell you what... if you are like me, looking at the used market. The GX460 is HANDSDOWN the better choice. 1. Price. To get even close to the luxury on the gx you need off-road premium or better trim on the 4 runner. Both vehicles run around $40k for 2021-22 models with less than 30k miles in good shape. 2. Drive train. The gx comes with the bulletproof 4.6L v8 with a 6 speed vs the 4Runner 4.0 v6 with a 5 speed. If you are loaded up or towing anything the difference between the 6 cylinder 5 speed and v8 with the 6 speed is like night and day. The lower rpm torque on the v8 is huge. 3. Fuel economy... there is basically no difference. Why not go with the v8 , 6 speed. 4. Off road. Out of the gate the 4Runner is configured better for offroad. But it you are doing mods anyway. I'll go for the victory 4x4 blitz front bumper on the gx with a stealth winch mount on the front. A low profile rear bumper and rock sliders. Then it is exactly what I want, aggressive, capable, comfortable, and most importantly reliable.
@Doomzdayxx
@Doomzdayxx 4 күн бұрын
@@getinthespace7715 I am not looking at the used market right now, but I'll be honest, at one point, I considered trading in my '23 4Runner for Nori Green '23 GX460. It was an impulse for me, so I had to research. I was fascinated with it. I came to the conclusions... 1. I already have a TRD Pro. Which really isn't luxurious at all. none of the 4Runners come close to the GX460 luxury-wise. But I have to be honest, when it comes to an off-road capable SUV, luxury is my last concern. 2. The GX460 and all the 4Runner trims come with bulletproof powertrains. The 4.7 and the 4.0 are comparable in reliability. I'm sure the 6-speed is smoother, but I really don't care, because if it were up to me, the 4runner would have a manual transmission, but that's not going to happen (unless, theoretically, I would swap in a manual from a wrecked manual transmission FJ cruiser). 3. Yeah, fuel economy is basically the same, true. However, the GX460 requires premium fuel to run correctly. I'm not interested in that extra expense. 4. I do light off-roading, so either vehicle would theoretically suit my needs. From all that I've read, they are very comparable in potential for off-roading. Though, the advantage of the 4Runner for my needs is that it's part0time 4x4, not all-time 4x4. Ultimately, I decided the 4Runner was the better choice for me. -The 4Runner is less expensive to operate, repair, maintain, etc. I need that extra money for the other 5 vehicles that I own lol. I don't have to worry about buying premium gas. There's millions of the damn things so parts are VERY plentiful and inexpensive compared to the GX. Also, as I stated before, the 4.7 and the 4.0 are both legendary for reliability. I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary.They're both built at the same plant in Japan, so quality control is top notch on both. BWT, R.I.P. to Toyota naturally-aspirated V6's and V8's. They're all gone now. At least in the trucks and SUVs, in North America. -The 4Runner isn't as powerful or fast perhaps, but still very capable off-road, if not more so, and that extra power is not a concern of mine. If I want to tow, I have a truck for that. -the GX460 is like the ultimate "butterface". I cannot get over how ugly the front end of it looks. I just can't get over it, man. The rest of the vehicle? The rear, side profile, the rear swinging door? All awesome, but the front end just looks goofy to me. -The only real selling point for me would have been the uniqueness of the GX compared to the 4Runner...there is a 5th gen 4runner every time you turn around. They're everywhere! The GX isn't exactly a RARE vehicle, but there are FAR fewer GXs on the road than 4Runners, which IS appealing, but whatever, can't win 'em all.
