Schöne Runde! Bin gespannt auf den Artikel und die Eindrücke. Sieht so aus, als ob der Track Mode mit etwas Untersteuern wohl die schnellste, aber nicht unbedingt "schönste" oder spaßige Methode ist. Setup / Geometrie Serie scheint aber auch nicht unbedingt auf den Ring ausgelegt zu sein. Trotzdem sehr respektable Zeit! Ohne den Begrenzer bei 226 bzw. 230 wäre ja noch einiges drin gewesen (Döttinger Höhe)

The tires worked really hard here. Lateral acceleration was 1.1-1.4 g in many corners. Were the tires overheating at the end because the lateral acceleration seemed get closer to 1.0-1.1 g there?

@@messnerps3 My super heavy Cayenne turbo is probably as fast around the ring as this Yaris thanks to brute force, but its really not any fun to drive, not even in a straight line. I got it for other reasons. I dont get the laptime fixation, if one is so worried about that, buy a second hand race car which is cheaper and faster. Good luck with your new car, I am sure you will enjoy it.

But I see that you are also one of those who like to ride and you know how to appreciate what that means beyond the power and the long straights. I already had several fun cars, especially a 420 hp M3 E-92 atmospheric, or a Cupra-R as well as a Mini Cooper JCW. My last ones were a Clio RS Trophy 225 and I just sold the Megane RS Trophy EDC to buy the GR Yaris .... I hope I do not miss the trunk and ... the armrest ... heh heh .. the rest very excited ... and eager to receive the "toy". Nice run by the pilot, even with the sun against him. I think this car is not made for long tracks like the Nurburgring, it's based on a rally car, lacks top speed, on the long straights, and it seems to have a litle bit of understeer.

Yup, top speed is electronicaly limited to 230kph, if you remove the limiter it should be able to do around 250kph

Well said, it pretty much kills all the hype about this car finally as the numbers show it's nowhere near used M3 levels of performance starting from E92 gen and up. It has good brakes and optional wheels out of the box, but other than that.. Lawn mower. :)

With power mods this car would destroy the M3's times, while nothing can be done to improve the M3. The M3 is better in a straight line is all that's happening here. Yaris price 35 k eur, used m2/m3/m4 with low mileage - same price. Tuning potential for bmw unlimited. I made decision already, was shopping for a car recently, was thinking about yaris, but glad skipped this hyped to the moon lawnmower.

Da kann der Händler gleich mal ein top Angebot für Winterreifen/Felgen rauskramen, weil ich sonst das Kleingedruckte im Vertrag vorlese..5-6 Monate steht da mit 6 Wochen Toleranz. Bin etwas angesäuert. Ist zwar als Winterauto gedacht, aber hätte mich ja gerne im Sommer dran gewöhnt. Wenn der nun irgendwann kommt, werde ich wohl bis 2022 mit der Zulassung warten.

Mini is quicker from 130km/h to 200km/h that's it's huge advantage to the GR Yaris, but if you watch both videos the GR Yaris takes the majority of the corners quicker and don't forget it's running Michelin PS4 and the Mini is on Hankook TD semi-slicks. It would be interesting to see the GR Yaris on the same tire might be slower due to the top speed but should reduce that time and get very close to the Mini GP.

Zugegeben, schneller als der olle GTI mit wesentlich schlechterem Leistungsgewicht und P/L-Verhältnis gebe ich zu, aber i30N und Focus ST sind auf Strecken wie dem Sachsenring schneller. Für ein Auto bei dem angeblich nur die Scheinwerfer identisch mit einem "normalen" Yaris sind ziemlich unbeeindruckend. Außerdem reden wir hier von den Einsteigern im Hot-Hatch-Segment: ein 10 Jahre alter Megane RS Trophy sagt Bonjour.

@@Corvolet5 ich korrigiere, er schlägt die meisten seiner Konkurrenten. Allerdings schlägt der Yaris den Focus ST und den i30N auf der Nordschleife und in Hockenheim. Zudem muss man sagen, dass das Auto nicht einmal für die Strecke gebaut ist. Es ist ein Rallye Auto, welches einfach ein verdammt gutes Auto ist, weswegen es sogar Autos schlägt, die teurer sind und eher für die Strecke gebaut sind.

Hm, der kleine GRYaris ist für den Rallysport konzipiert. Damit über den Ring zu fahren mag Spaß machen aber entspricht nicht dem Revier des GRYaris. Trotzdem, mein Dank geht an Toyota für diese tolle Kiste. In diesen Zeiten ein kleines Wunder.

It doesn't matter what Gazoo Racing do it'll still be a Yaris. Try to impress a hot chick by telling her you drive a Yaris & she'll probably tell you her Sister, Mum or Aunty has one. As for the lap, it looks like it suffers from terminal understeer no matter how you throw it at a corner. The front tyres seemed to lose interest & go home from about halfway around the lap. I'd like to know if Christian tried a lap in the Sport setting as I suspect the time was set using Track mode.

u still try to impress chicks with a car??? For the first date i always go with my Opel Combo and if she still wants to date, i open the garage...(btw, some not even care about a 911turbo, they ask for a camper or an e.bike) To reduce understear in the yaris, just adjust the tire pressure by reducing in front, increase the rear. its very sensitive to that. I think, Christian was just a bit too aggresive for this setup with the MPS4

Type R is much heavier, much bigger & FWD only. Between the two I'd take the GR Yaris, but to each their own; wish we had the option in the states as we don't get the GR Yaris here.

The Type R is a piece of garbage compared to this car. You MUST be a Honda fan. The Type R's potential is zero compared to the GR Yaris, which is running on 3 cylinders with no mods.

@@sunrisesunset1734 you must be a Toyota fan then... If the Type-R´s potential was zero, it wouldn´t have been 30 seconds quicker than the Yaris around the ring. It´s basically quicker than the Yaris in any situation, aside from drag racing and maybe wet conditions (that´s where the Yaris´s AWD plays out). But even from a stand still, on dry road it will catch and eat the Yaris on any distance longer than a quarter mile. So just stop talking random trash, you obviously don´t know anything about the Type-R.

It's not supposed to be a GR Yaris competitor, but people already prefer the AWD turbo-charged hot-hatch LOL. That must anger you. Why don't you compare your Civic to the GR Supra if cylinders don't matter? PLUS... the GR Yaris is a RALLY HOMOLOGATION which means it was not made to post quick lap-times on the Nurburgring. We the general public welcome your lack of reason.
