Love your enthusiasm Robin! This car is a public service. Cars and driving are just too pedestrian these days. A very balanced platform. I chose my GT86 over a manual hot hatch. Lots of useful space. Great for track days. You don't buy this car for sound isolation. Excellent video and exhaustive (see what I did there) review. You nailed it.

All Toyota and Subaru have to do is make enough for all the customers that would be happy to buy them for MSRP. I have never paid over MSRP and have no intention to now.

You left out the port injection cleans the intake valves and may contribute to longer life of the direct injectors since they dont need to work as much all the time. Very nice review though.

Totally agree, the Japanese spec 240 sx from the late 90s (Silvia) was incredible. The Z is the closest to it here. And that is good, but I think the GR86/BRZ is closest to a pure sports car sold today. Here's my review of the Z, if you're at all curious: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3epZqaim5eCkK8

I guess red paint is a lot more expensive than say blue paint (Dealer rip off) .why is the gas mileage so bad on this small car ?

It's a naturally aspirated engine with a transmission geared for sporting driving, which tends to keep revs up.
