Thanks for this video. I enjoyed watching it for 3 hours . Finds me interesting to do when I retire 20 years from now.

No need to remove caliper or spindle bolts. Only remove 2 nuts and bolt on balljoint and axle nut, remove balljoint nut and pickle fork out..
@condor56355 жыл бұрын
Taking that huge heavy brake rotor off would have made moving the knuckle a lot easier. It was only stuck on with rust. Surprised it did not fall off. Great video... will be doing this as well as control arm and tie rods and bearing this weekend. Thanks!

You can remove lower ball joint without removing drive axle by using a pickle fork to separate ball joint.
@theotherguy30835 жыл бұрын
There are more than one way to remove the LBJ. Lol
@j.maldonado50584 жыл бұрын
I agree, this was a lot more disassembly work than what is required. The calipers don’t have to be taken apart either, unless the pads are being replaced.

If that castle nut is froze on there, I think his way is best because it makes it easier to get on that nut.

This is the second of his videos youtube suggested to me and all have one thing in common: UNNECESSARY disassemblies.
@kevinf70162 жыл бұрын
If you don’t remove the drive axle how are you supposed to properly torque the ball joint top castle nut?

I salute your hard work. Thanks for the video!

Then he said it not that that difficult lmao you took everything apart to make it difficult lmao this got me rolling just funny to me

Great video, I definitely agree with you on aftermarket parts. The only one I trust for ball joints is Beck/Arnley since they are made by 555 which is a Japanese OEM supplier

Look, ma, NO gloves!!!! You're a bad ass!
@williambowers5783 Жыл бұрын
Why would you take all that off. All you need to do is unbolt the 3 bolts and the nut for the ball joint and get a pickle fork and hammer the joint apart and replace it it's simple

Would this be the case of a slight movement in the tire when shaking it> as well as some vibration after 45 MPH?
@vitendogroup8125 Жыл бұрын
like your videos but you do not show that you loosen the nuts/bolts before videoing which makes removing them look WAYYYY easier than it actually is. that's misleading
@theotherguy3083 Жыл бұрын
No sir, none of the bolts and nuts here were pre-loosened. I did them as I go. I used power tools and so the job looks easy. If you do not have power tools, that's the reason it was difficult for you. Use the right tools and it makes the job go by faster and easier.

Here is how I did it on my sienna 2004 same set up. Removed the safety pin. Loosened the castle nut a few turns ( so you will have. Enough wiggle room -I will say why soon) then loosen a few turns the nuts holding the BJ to the LCA and remove the bolt completely. Then, use a fork (the ones to remove TIE ROD ENDS. And basically hammer it between the axle and the BJ (with the wiggle room of loosing up the castle nut- the BJ Will separate from the knuckle. Not just remove the castle nut completely as you remove the BJ from the knuckle and remove the nuts holding the BJ to the LCA. And you are done remove the BJ. Putting it back. Just out the BJ into the knuckle, put the castle nut. And tighten the hell out of it and put the safety pin ( it it starts to roll-then put it into the LCA and halfway tighten the nuts so the BJ Won’t roll while you trying to tighten the castle nut. Pretty simple and quick and yet I don’t even wanna do it again unless required. I came up with it and it works fine. I did two BJs on my Lexus 2010 es350 same set up. And it worked great. So yeah

Great video thanks. Can you tell me the specific arm puller tool you used the break loss the ball joint? Buy on Amazon? Thanks!
@theotherguy30835 жыл бұрын
It is called the Pitman Arm Puller. You can it your local auto parts dealer.
@condor56355 жыл бұрын
I know what t is called was wondering if you have the model of the one you used specifically - trying to buy on Amazon for this same job and realize they come in various sizes. If not thanks

I do not see that you use the grease gun at final,Toyota part doesn't need grease push inside?
@elsathedemonwolf10354 жыл бұрын
Yiran Zheng some of the ball joints are sealed no greasing needed
@b43225583 жыл бұрын
u didnt have to remove the knockel to replace that easy ball joint
@sacsicc9162 жыл бұрын
Just grind down a closed end wrench so it will just barely fit on that top nut of the ball joint no need to take all that apart fyi
@JLMiller410 Жыл бұрын
What kind of time frame did it take you to do that one axle?
@theotherguy3083 Жыл бұрын
This actually took me almost 3 hours to do both sides because I have to pause and talk and video. Haha
@reyconcepcion1342 жыл бұрын
You don't need to take the CV axle
@gabrielmendez492 жыл бұрын
Lol that way to much removal i never take any of those pieces to replace the ball joint on these Toyota just jack it up stick pickle fork pop ball joint un zip the three bolts and that it u do not have to take off the axel or the two bolts that bolts the strut to spindle
@elsathedemonwolf10354 жыл бұрын
You really don’t need a torque wrench ,one castellation past sharp torque rise install cotter pin is sufficient
@kevinf70162 жыл бұрын
