Thank You. I have had issues accelerating from a low rpm since i have had my IQ 2009 (15 Months ago) it's been a bit of a nightmare. The EGR valve was replaced ages ago but the manifold was not cleaned ! as I did not understand how it all worked and it was a mechanic that did the EGR valve ! I think he mumbled something to that effect the last time I saw the chap. Anyway having seen your video I decided to have a go cleaning the EGR & Manifold myself as I was putting it off as i did not think it was the EGR Valve I thought it was the fuel pump or electrics just could not understand it as it was accelerating sometimes (bloody dangerous) & no engine light. Just been for a test drive and it seems allot happier either way it's a big improvement I say this as I have done stuff to this car about 10x and been wrong every time. I cannot tell you what a pain in the backside this issue has been and its been to a Franchised Toyota garage they basically did not want to know there is nothing about this issue other than the EGR valve can give problems out on the net, it's not so much the EGR valve its the bloody manifold it sits on that feeds the air to the EGR. I have replaced the the front and rear CAT's + 02 sensor and exhaust at great cost and the front manifold CAT has the updated bypass tube so hopefully it might stay ok for a while. To explain the process of removing it you need to remove the wipers and the the scuttle plate then throttle body undo the 3 bolts holding the EGR valve and then the 4 bolts holding on the manifold to get access to remove the manifold undo the wiper assembly bolt you can then remove the manifold I left the gasket there and the EGR valve but cleaned it in position with EGR cleaner and used a football air pump adapter on my electric tyre pump to blow anything out. So the Manifold has air holes in the inlets joined by passageways they were blocked it was full of carbon this is the main issue I used a paper.clip on the holes perfect fit and loads of EGR cleaner and again blew out then scrapped out any muck with ear cleaners you need to get the port passage from the egr valve side its so obvious when you see it I used the paper clip again. The reason I did not remove the EGR valve is that you need to undo the fuel rail ( I think) and one of the bolts is hard to get to I could not get a socket on one of them but yo can still clean the opening to the.EGR valve as mentioned my valve is new it was the manifold that was the real issue but when the EGR calve was replaced the old one was bunged up so make sure. Many Thanks again for the Video

I remember this was a recall issue. Mine from 2010 had this too.. There was an issue with this that could cripple the car in situations. Toyota Holland did not talk about it, but when I told them they would be liable in such a situation they did the work for me. They payed the money. Turns out: on the older iQ's the egr valve is connected before the catalytic-converter. They replaced the catalytic converter and now the EGR valve is connected tot the exhaust AFTER the catalystic converter. Hope this helps.

Yup. Mines old and second hand so can't kick up a fuss really. But yeah a cat change is needed to fix but this should be good for quite some time now. If it goes again I might ring Toyota. I did email but didn't have much luck. Hard to find head office uk details. Local ones just fob you off

@@ggzii I do think to remember that it were the Britts that got Toyota to change those cats for free, after a lot of fuzz. Maybe in the Toyota Club there could be more answers. Sadly I sold my iQ and now in a Smart 451. I just want a very small car.

Thanks very much for this. I’m considering buying one so will think carefully. I hear bad things about the clutch 2000rpm issue too. Has anyone had the clutch changed and successfully resolved this?
@ggzii4 ай бұрын
Clutch swap will change it, but ive heard it just comes back, it's just part of the car, mine makes a rumble at 2,000rpm but i just hear as "change gear" or slow/speed up it's really not an issue for me.
