I think they are mostly coming from Toyota dealerships. Toyota itself gives MSRPs. Here is what Toyota does not get. Many young men, say in there low to mid 20's would make enough to afford a new Tacoma in the high 20's and low 30's and then as they made more money their next one may be a TRD PRO or even a Tundra, They were Toyota folks for life , the same for young families. Those trucks and cars have disappeared from the market as you need mid 30's for a Camry and mid 40's for a Tacoma. Not only have they lost the newer younger generation but even the mid to older generation. I am not too smart but I know "basic" economics.

all things equal you are pushing more air through the engine and that equals more pressure and more heat. It often lowers the longevity of engines. It also comes down to people not knowing how to use a turbo car. You should always let the engine idle for a minute or so before you shut it off, giving the engine time to cool before you shut it off. You are also adding tech and adding to the complexity of the car. More complexity often leads to more things that can go wrong. Hence why i bought a Camry at the end of it's model run with just a plain 2.5 liter engine. Simple tech on a car that had been in production for 9 years and all the kinks were worked out. Often new models make you the guinea pig, first year out of the box. However there are people who who say they have owned turbos for years and had no problems. I suspect they sell them after 5 or 6 years and don't run them to 300 000 plus miles. It also matters how you drive them and highway miles vs city miles make a big difference. Maintenance is also key. Many variables.
@ericpizarro3084
@ericpizarro3084 4 сағат бұрын
I don’t agree. Turbo vehicles are fine as long as you don’t abuse them and, change oil regularly. Still they have better torque when you need it. I have had 3 turbo vehicles( even a modified Subaru STI) it was a commute vehicle not for racing or rally racing. I just liked more power. Never had a single issue with it. We now have a Subaru Ascent for over 6 years. So far flawless with 72,000 miles.

I’m old enough to remember when Toyota (and Honda for that matter) offered quality at an economical price. The main reason why they rose to prominence was because in the 70’s while a lot of American cars looked great they were trash under the hood and got like 9 miles to the gallon on a good day. When you add two different oil crises in the decade people went to Toyota because they were affordable, reliable and got good MPG. Now they aren’t affordable, their reliability is still decent but nowhere near what it used to be and they don’t really offer any real advantage in MPG. I tried looking for a RAV4 Prime and when you could find one it marked up 5-10k over sticker.

Every single car and truck either has 2500-3000 dealer installed options you don't want or they just slap a sticker on the window of the adjusted market value. I've done very well without a Honda so far but if I ever run across a stealership willing to deal, I might buy one.

Toyota used to have pride and bent over backwards to deliver a product that everyone wanted and at a good price point. Unfortunately, pride turned to greed and toyota morphed into the big 3 American companies in the 80's. Reliability is way down and so is something called value. The engineering on newer vehicles is laughable. For instance, no one wants to remove the front bumper to replace a headlight. Whomever thought the new oil filters was a good idea should be flogged. As a consumer, I demand value. I want longevity and low maintenance. Toyota is no longer listening to me so I am going to have to look elsewhere. Oh and guess what, I wont be buying a 4 banger turbo for a truck or SUV. Lastly, if you want me to buy a toyota, it is going to be made in the U.S. or Japan.

What I've been told by 3 of these dealers is that Toyota has cut production and some other dealers say there are part shortages. Whatever the reason, there are few Toyota cars to be had in my area and some of these dealers are owned by large auto corporations, meaning, they should have clout w/Toyota and be able to secure inventory especially if sales are low as you state.

The Korean automakers Hyundai & KIa are not as good quality or as reliable as Toyota. However, they offer some features that Toyota doesn't. Toyota has been slow to adopt new technology. They were late in the game with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay while other automakers had already offered it. Also, some don't like Toyota is charging a subscription to use features like Remote Start

EVs continue to rise in market share and have had the highest year over year sales for the last several years than any other segment. Ford just reported a few day ago that Mach.E sales are higher than for the ICE Mustang and GM had a record year in EV sales. Rivian also reported higher than expected sales for the fourth quarter and higher sales than expected for 2024. Even Scout Motors has reported that they have over 50k reservations for vehicles that are t expected for two more years. You might not want an EV but saying that nobody wants one is just ignorant as hell.

I was recently in the market for a Tacoma. I went and looked at them. No head or leg room particularly in the rear seat. The colors are boring (silver, white and other ugly colors I can't describe). Inside was hard plastic. II was shocked at the high price. Then I saw they were made in Mexico. These were all a deal breaker for me.

Gravitating towards "Nissan"? Then why was Nissan reported as having only 12 to 14 months to find a merger partner? Nissan is reported as being unreliable by more than one source. Question now is will Honda merger help Nissan sales or pull Honda down?

I think a drop of 3.3% that he is referring to is definitely not sales plummeting and I agree with you they are definitely not gravitating to Nissan when Nissan could be bankrupt if the Honda merger doesn’t go through. This is sensational journalism at best.

The first dealbreaker for me is that I have to buy the absolute top of the line model to get a heated steering wheel - something I'd even pay the dealership to install if possible. The second thing is that their cars are EXPENSIVE and have had some very public reliability problems. I told a couple people to have a look at the Siena, but the markup on one is TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS over sticker. You'd have to own the stupid thing for 20 years to make that money back. No thanks. Their tech is also kinda lousy in a lot of their cars are very outdated. Just so much NOPE.

I have bought a new Toyota many years ago (1985), but honestly, the last time I ever entered a Toyota dealership the salesmen made me feel like they were doing me a favor by allowing me to buy a car from them at their ridiculous high prices. I have owned 3 Toyota cars ('81 Celica, '85 Camry, and '87 Camry), and all were really great cars, but I got a lot more for my $$$ when I switched to other automakers. In 2016 I bought a new Nissan Frontier SL and it was far cheaper, had more options like I wanted and needed, and was just as dependable as any of the Toyota trucks. I have no desire to ever buy another Toyota.

I overland my Toyotas (4Runner, Tundra and FJ). Generally you don't go over 5 mph. Turbos require constant airflow to prevent overheating plus debris could get sucked in and the fact it could break at any moment scares the crap out of me. So turbos are out. Hybrid is another one I wouldn't take out in the boonies. Again, this is just me. For regular off-roading on weekends, yes I'd take the turbos and hybrids. I just won't go deep in the woods or trails in case I breakdown. I've seen enough broncos, tacomas, tundras on the side of the trails awaiting for a tow truck to come and retrieved them.

I don't understand you car guys. All doom and gloom about car sales and the industry, yet so far every car company releasing ther 2024 USA car sales have increased. Also, new car prices haven't come down including dealership incentives, in fact prices are still going up. What you don't understand is that car sales is waiting game between the dealership and the buyer. Dealerships know you have to have a car, used car market sucks, worst on history so that's not an option. Car companies have a lot more resources to wait out slow sales periods than the avg buyer, car companies win again.

Toyota is still number one seller in America and in the world selling over eleven million vehicles per year. Toyota is less expensive than any other brand based on value, quality, resale, spare parts, maintenance, dealers network, insurance, Do it yourself maintenance are in the equation. Myself, family members and friends are sick of cheap cars. We want to own a reliable vehicle 15-20 years from now and drive every day for work, business, entertainment, road trips with any major issue even at 200k miles. This happens constantly with Toyota vehicles. People love to buying our 20 years old Toyota with a few hundred thousand miles on the odometers, other brands have to be sold to junkyards for a few hundred bucks. I currently driving a 2021 Toyota Sienna and have never experienced a single issue even after 110,000 miles My adult daughter who is senior electrical engineer is still driving her 20 year old Toyota Camry 4 cylinders that she bought it used in high school. The Camry still runs like new after one quarter of million miles. My wife still drives 2012 Toyota Prius getting 50mpg, and still works like new at 1/4 million miles on its odometer. Oil change at Toyota is still $50 average. No matter what Toyota brand will shine and thrive.
