most ppl would consider these luxury brands which no middle class family would consider. even explorers and trailblazers are unaffordable unless you have a dual six figure income.

I personally can't, nor do I know anyone that is middle class that can afford a $1000 or higher monthly car payment. I guess the majority of us are middle class as it relates to "poverty level" income, but not middle class as relates to what we can truly afford.

$140k is a lot more than my wallet can handle…. $26k is the max we have ever spent and we always buy something that is 1-2 years old

The most I’ve ever spent is $20k on a 3yr old quad cab 4wd truck with 45k miles back in 2014. I’m not looking forward to buying a different vehicle in the next few months. I miss the days of big sedans 6-7 years old with 50k miles for under $10k.

I feel comfortable driving my 90s 2 door yukon knowing it will outperform and last longer than 90% of vehicles on the road today. Has 350 small block, 4 speed automatic. 4x4 with a lever, not push button.

Other than the Taos and maybe the Kona EV, none of these are marketed at the middle class nor being shopped by the middle class.

The video quotes Kelly Blue Book about the Volkswagen Taos and its shortcomings. Kelly Blue currently has 39 reviews of the 25 Taos that hit showrooms around Christmas. None of the reviews are about the 25, but many go back to the cars sold for much of 21. It’s hard to speak of the Taos‘ transmission when it had two distinctly different transmissions. I tried both when I was shopping. As a lifelong manual driver, I much preferred the smoothness of the 8 speed automatic and it‘s much better MPG rating. In short, so many variables are not considered in the quick “Don’t Buy This” videos.

My son purchased a 23 Volkswagen Taos. His first brand new vehicle after college and started a decent job. I was proud of him for being fiscally conservative and buying what he could afford. It’s one of the cheapest vehicles out there. I took a ride in it a couple of times. It’s not terrible. Rides decent. No problems yet. Has a four year/50 K warranty. It is what it is. A cheap base level SUV/crossover. Time will tell I guess.

I bought a NEW loaded 2013 CX 5 for 28600.00 still have it at 86000 miles if I replace it with another it will cost 38000 in line with inflation those high transaction prices are because of all the 60-80 k pick up trucks.

Fancy interiors and electronics are cheap to produce. These are the features that are used to justify high prices and vehicles with crappy drivetrains.

I'll stick with my leased '25 Chevy Trax, thank you! I don't think there was a single SUV on the list I'd consider, some of them at any budget.
@sbond196314 күн бұрын
The trax isn’t an SUV. It’s A FWD crossover.. being only FWD probably not even that just a tall car

Ah yes, we in the middle class have 100k+ to dump into a suv. Also middle class: I’m gonna use my own bags because I don’t want to buy them at the store.

Inflation and prices going up hurts everybody. So how’s everyone going to benefit? How is anyone supposed to afford to buy do or even used cars? not to mention maintenance plus how are the dealers and OEM’s themselves? I like these videos that you’ve been doing because you are an everyday common man that does this for a living but yet you explain the details of what’s going on behind the scenes.
