If you look back at my older videos I was a Tacoma guy for a long time. I put together a few videos on my old Tacoma. Definitely things I miss about it. Always was curious about the Landcruisers and now I understand why! It’s a sweet rig as well! Thanks for watching!

I would recommend running a 10AWG wire to the back charger to reduce voltage drop. I also added a Anderson plug next to the DC plug to charge my DIY solar generator.
@pickettbuilt2686
@pickettbuilt2686 2 жыл бұрын
If I was going to solely run the fridge of the DC plug, than I would definitely consider this. I charge my solar generator directly off the DC plug and run my fridge off the solar generator at the same time. Pass through charging and no voltage drop on the fridge that way.

If ur switching to synthetic oil check ur Dip stick after every 1k miles and make sure it don't start burning it. Nice looking rig. We are looking for a sequoia for same kinda thing.

It was already running 5w-30 full synthetic in it since mile 1. I am just switching to the platinum edition because it’s rated higher. Sequoias are Land Cruisers in disguise. Sweet rigs too!

I regret having sold our 1999 LC 100 series six years. Now after watching your video, I want another newer LC 100. By the way, after doing the math on your road trip gasoline cost/mpg, ($700.00/4,000 miles = 17.5 mpg) 17.5 mpg is not bad at all for a 6,000 lbs on a lifted suv, with all-terrain, off-roady tires, loaded down with passengers and cargo and traveling through mountainous roads. Thank you for sharing your info and video!

Keep in mind we started the trip with a full tank and ended it on empty. It was probably around 12-14 mpg, but I still love the rig. They definitely live up to Cruising the Land! Thanks for watching!

Look at the Rocky Road bolt on sliders. Don't require welding. Do a good job installing them, get them tight and in the right spot and they won't make any noise when you get off road. Really good powder coat finish. You will need two people to install them and a lift makes it a lot easier. They have one set with a 45 and one pair that are flat. I put them on my 98 and they worked out really well.

I recently purchased a 2006 100 Series Land Cruiser with 159k miles, and your video made me feel much more confident about my decision. Have you had to replace the heater T's or encountered any issues with the master brake assembly? Also, is this your daily driver? Thanks again for the great content!
@pickettbuilt2686

@@noctilucent7396 congrats on your purchase. That’s a score. I just recently had the timing belt and water pump replaced. Also replaced the heater T’s and a few lines that looked old. I think it’s a good idea to replace them when doing all that just to ensure it’s longevity. I haven’t had any other issues other than replacing the CV axles. It is my daily driver however it is very thirsty. Thanks for watching!

It is heavy on fuel compared to what ?
@pickettbuilt2686
@pickettbuilt2686 Жыл бұрын
Good question. My Tacoma averaged about 16 mpg and it was a long bed, lifted, and had a loaded out camper shell. We have a Subaru that gets over 30 mpg. Significantly a smaller vehicle though. My old 2002 Z71 Tahoe would be a good comparison as the fuel economy was similar and I would say an equivalent vehicle in size. So I guess the fuel mileage is to be expected for what it is. However there are newer rigs even bigger in size getting better fuel economy. I wouldn’t trade though.

We replaced the alternator in our 2002 100 Series in 2015. We run Royal Purple oil and a good Napa filter, changing both every 5,000 miles. No other mechanical issues to report. In the fall of 2016, we "parked" the LC due to some family health issues, a buddy's been driving the LC every month or so to keep everything lubed and used. We are about ready to resume driving the LC and had the tires, timing belt, radiator, belts, hoses and fluids changed in March 2023, at 105K miles. Good as new for another 90K miles. Looking forward to the Cruiser hitting puberty at 200,000 miles:-)

I would love to do a follow up video on the solar setup. I have only used it a few times now but so far it charges my power station as fast as the A/C adapter does at around 90 watts. To be off grid and have a way to charge the power station and run the D/C fridge, charge our phones, camera batteries, power air pumps for air mattresses and whatever else you would need for camping it has been amazing. I am hoping to do a follow up review on the whole setup as we put it to the test. Thanks for watching!
