Just what the doctor ordered... any observations on the v6 versus the diesel?

The V6 has genuine over-taking power under load, esp in sports+ mode. The diesel is a bit sluggish, but more efficient. Needs the V6 diesel in there, which the next one has I think. I'd go for the GX petrol V6 with normal suspension, the Vx has only air for the V6 in SA. You can also order a toyota bolt on supercharger to get monster power out of the motor if you work for shell.

@@Africasideways that supercharger sounds like a lot of fun... Raptor territory? I assune Raptor is petrol? The V6 is the better bet for me... no turbo, overtaking power, apparently reliability, a little cheaper to buy and you can still tow or overland... I think the power/weight ratio is about 85 or so whilst the diesel is 55 and that's a big difference!

Yes, big difference, and for that price, you want the proper motor.

Actually this engine is used in the Japanese model of the LC 76 why they choose a petrol I don’t know but they seem to love putting petrol engines in their Land cruisers because their 200 series all have petrol engines. I would avoid this coz of the MPG

Nah, the 200 has the 4.5 twin turbo diesel.

Hard to believe Toyota would put the same engine in the 300 and the Prado, worse still, not releasing a new Prado with a new motor. Seems cleat they don’t intend releasing a new platform before EV adoption

I reckon a single turbo V6 diesel would be the sweat spot for the Prado. The 2.8 is lacking on grunt for such a heavy car.
