Thanks so much for this video. Followed everything and camped last night. Worked perfectly.

We just use 2 plastic storage containers (with camping gear) at the back and they are the same height as folded rear seats. Put an air mattress on top and it’s fine. The only issue is to put something between front and rear seats to support hanging mattress. 5min to prepare the sleeping mode at night and 5 min to deflate the mattress and ready to drive in the morning.

Thanks for the video. Are you able to fit the board and have the 2nd row seats up? For example, if you have two passengers? Or do the seats need to stay down to fit it?

I can fit the two board in the trunk area with the seats up. It would have to be angled though.

nice, simple and light and way better than in a tent. we traveled like that few years. removing second row of seats is easy and will give you more room if needed. bafta :)

The Sequoia seats fold all the way up against the front seats, leaving just short of 6' of cargo depth. If you remove them, you get 7 feet of depth.

Not bad. may i suggest something. cut the board in half and install some hinges. That way you will be able to fold the board and access your boxes easily. I think I will do the same for my 80 for a sleeping solution. Regards from VA. Mircea

Absolutely right. I thought about it, but decided against the idea at that time. First it would just take more work. Second, I actually use some ratchet ties to hold everything in place and not move around while off roading. The straps would negate the usefulness of the hinges installed for easy access. So, I just slide the boxes around as I need. The more important things (sleeping gear and cooking items) are placed in the two boxes by the hatch door for easy access. The others by shuffling them around or simply from the rear (second door and folded seats).

Not that much more work. 3 hinges and 6 wood screws. :-) My thought was to cut the board longitudinally, that way you fold it over and you can access both rear and front boxes. Also, I think it will be easier taking it out. Can you easily shuffle the boxes under the board without having to lift it up ?But I guess if the way you have it works for you, no problems.

Yes, I agree with you. It would be a lot easier to get the plywood in or out of the truck. But it seriously is not that hard as it is now. The boxes slide in an out really easy with the tie down straps. I don't clamp them down that hard, just enough so nothing really moves freely inside the trunk area. I don't want any surprises off road. Funny little story though, I did try to lift the plywood up to get access to one of the boxes close the second row of seats. I tried and failed a few times, till I remembered the reason I cannot do it :) Of course I ended up sliding them around to get access to it. They plywood goes in first on an angle, then I get the boxes in and slide them under it. This is just my take on the sleeping platform/cargo area/drawers/etc. Everybody does it their own way, what fits their needs better. It works for me.

Why not just take the seats out when over landing? Takes all of 15 minutes.

In my case I have no reason to take them out. Other people have a drawer/sleeping platform system in place. There a many ways of doing it. I chose this setup.
