Matt's Off Road Recovery

Matt's Off Road Recovery

4 жыл бұрын

We got a call for a Toyota Tacoma stuck on the Arizona strip south of Colorado City Arizona. We got there right as somebody else helped him out, but right before we met him we met some locals that needed their truck towed also, so we were able to help them with their Chevy S10. The road was a soupy, muddy mess, but it was pretty simple pull.

crazy how fast the road goes from passable in a 2wd car to a slop pit with a little rain

We were in the Canyonlands with a rented Jeep Compass. What a POS that was. Anyway it started to rain and we were on dirt roads. I knew we could be in deep shit if we got caught out there in a sustained downpour. I kept the speed up because I knew if we stopped I might not get going again. We made it back to 191 and I was pretty happy about that.

Love the drone shots at the end Matt, just goes to put into perspective the size of ‘your’ patch, and such wonderful wilderness. It’s such a good feeling to know you can get about without worrying about the terrain or conditions, I feel the same when I’m out on the tracks in my old Land Cruiser 80. I too carry a medium stock of recovery gear, which almost always comes in handy for helping folks out or occasional self recovery. Love this channel. Thanks, and stay safe ... 👍🏻🇷🇴🇬🇧

world_wide_wes Ha, ha... yes, it’s a bit of a tractor, but it’s comfortable and just keeps on going. 470k km so far with no work done on the engine. I’m 66 and the truck is 25, I’ve had it for 14 years. It has all three diff locks controlled from the dash, and it’s lifted 6” so it can go almost anywhere. The world is going mad so I don’t know how long I’ll be allowed to drive it, but I’m hoping it will outlive me. 👍🏻🇷🇴🇬🇧

Wooow Mat. Keep up the good work man. This mourning was 212k subscribers. Now almost 218k. You are the recovery beast. Love your chanell I use to have tow trucks. Exactly 12 of em and 2 wreckers back in the days in Hartford Ct. To bad I loose them all. But thats another story. They were 9 flatbeds or rolbacks aluminum bed, one stell bed the one I use to drive and 2 wreckers. All of em were 1998 International 4700 almost brand new. I bough them in Southern auto auction back in the days. Were good times. Your channel brings me some good memories. Greetings from Puerto Rico..

Binge watching these! Very interesting! Very nice guy, Matt! Very professional! I enjoy your commenting and knowledge. I can see your approach and application of experience. I appreciate your empathy for people in distress and frowning upon those who comment negatively regarding those who made a mistake in dire circumstances. One question: Do you ever have conversations with clients about what to look for so they don't encounter a difficult situation again? You have fun and entertaining videos! I don't really hear much between success and your later analysis. If things are the same with me, there's probably a "BS" session after everyone is free, and we're not hearing it. Maybe not. And that's why you are the professional, I guess! Keep up the good work! Thanks!

Not sure how it works with personal vehicles or how Matt works, but from the commercial vehicle side, you've gotta pay a road call minimum fee just for calling them out. If you get yourself out, then there's no extra, but you're still on the hook for that call.

@Jeremo Brown In one of his videos, Matt mentions that question being asked, but declined to answer other than saying it was very fair. It's probably unfair to Matt to post pricing for a host of reasons beyond his choice not to post it himself. Some of his recoveries took over 2 hours driving - ONE WAY, And that was just to reach it. There's no way $40 is applicable. So, I would assume a mileage factor likely exists Also, based on customer's description, some require use of a trailer, winches, additional co-workers, etc. You would probably do Matt a favor by deleting or editing your post. If you do, post a new comment, even with just the word 'Done'. That will flag it for me and I'll then remove my reply
