I passed on my old Subaru to my oldest son and he checks the fluids regularly. After I had to rebuild the engine twice. This last time was the last straw and he knows it. I put in new pistons, forged rods, new crank, oil pump, water pump, timing set and a full head job. Engine turned out as perfect as it gets and he really loves it. In fact he just brought it to me for an oil change and check up. I had to convince him that it was ok to stretch out the oil change to 4k? When I dropped the oil, It still looked as clean as the day I put it in. Not bad for a 200k engine.

Just discovered the channel 22re. Back in my 87 sr5 4 runner days with a 140,000 miles 100% rust free North Carolina one owner rig And lc engineering offerings were the all over the forums - motors, headers, custom parts … Changing out the timing chain was fun due to that Toyota stock plastic timing chain guide combined with a stretched chain and the infamous grove cutting a trail into the timing cover Sweet motors just the same once the chain was switched out , new gears , new tensioner and a metal timing chain guide with rubber coating added

Time-saving tip: pull the passenger kick panel, remove and disconnect the ECU, and pull the whole engine harness out with the engine. Toyota designed the engine to come out that way and it's so much easier and faster to dress an engine on a stand than in the vehicle.

My pleasure. The only application it doesn't work for is automatic. You'd have to pull the trans with the engine.

hey, im about to swap my 22re and im watching this to get ready, would it be easier to remove the intake manifold first instead of wrestling that wiring harness out of it?

I have a 1981 4x4 toyota pik up but it doesn't have an engine and I bought a 2010 tacoma with a 4.5 v6 engine but it's a total loss and I want to transfer the engine, transmission and differentials from the tacoma to the 81
