Toyota pickup wheel bearing and brake rotor replacement

1986-1995 Toyota pickup and 4runner 4x4 wheel bearing and rotor replacement. tools needed 54mm 10mm 12mm 17mm. torque specs for caliper is 90 ft-lbs and adjusting nut for wheel bearing 43 ft-lbs to seat the bearing. then loosen nut again til it can be turned by hand then retighten adjusting nut to 18 ft-lbs. then install lock washer and lock nut and tighten the locknut to 33 ft-lbs. make sure its not to tight and you can spin the hub if you cant loosen the adjusting nut. thanks for watching!

I beat the hell out of the hub lock housing that covers the big nit. Heat and deep creep. No luck I'm stuck for the night

@trailman20 it has cone washers around the studs so I bought the biggest brass punch I could. Hit the ends of the studs until the cone washers came off. Uhhh I took loose the ball joint to get the axel out. Besides that pretty simple. You will need a Haynes manual or something to get the torque proces of the wheel bearing axel nut thing. Have to tighten then losen then tight again. I did nit use a spring scale like the book said. Just went by the torque spec.

​@@Treeclimberadrenaline so what I do that and have to replace the studs after!? ..I got the surrounding nuts for the wheel lock assembly off and I don't know what's next .. I do have an air hammer with some attachments should I use that and where and I hitting it ? ..I tried the seem but no luck...I guess in not seeing these cone washers or may I am and just don't know what I'm looking at

How were you able to separate the hub so easily? I've got mine taken apart and for the life of me I can't get the hub and rotor assembly to come off

Just depends on the rust bond between them a two pound Hammer is your best friend and a torch to heat it up if you have one..

After you get the bolts out on the back side of the rotor holding the Hub on just go all the way around it hitting it with a hammer and It should come right out if it ain't too rusted up. You could also heat it up with a torch a little bit just where the Hub and rotor mates up

i put the bolts back in with at least 3-4 threads of contact and went around hitting each one /w a brass drift until it came out, took like 5 minutes but my rotors were really rusted

you were lucky the Aisin hub came off that easy ... usually you have to smack the studs with a brass drift and hammer to get the cone washers out. did you just edit that out or did you not have any cone washers in your hubs? that would not be a good thing

Got an 03 tacoma with manual hubs could I use this process too put new wheel bearings on my drive side axel binds when in 4x2 feels like the bearing lml never did wrench on tacomas

This process looks easier because of the cone needle bearing. If your Tacoma has a sealed "pressed" wheel bearing, it's a whole other ball game.

So is it 25 ft lbs or 43 ft lbs to torque the nut to seat the bearing?

To seat the bearing is 25 foot pounds back the nut until it's loose again tighten it down as You Spin The Hub until all the slack is gone and you feel a small amount of resistance and that should be enough preload. Basically snug it down until all they bearing play is gone. I'm sorry it's kind of hard to explain I wish I didn't lose the last part of the video.
