If you are cheap like me you can replace the actuator motor for around 5 bucks. It adds 30 minutes to the job but saves $200+. There are 2 different size actuator shaft lengths. I got lucky the first time. Bought extras for future repairs.

'08 Avalon. Locks work well when garaged. If out in hot sun for an hour or more drivers door will not unlock. Assume door lock actuator going bad?

Great video. Thanks! Wish it was better news but I’m having the exact symptom in my daughters 03 rav4. A click but no unlock on drivers only. Keys fine so maybe she’ll just deal with that. Not sure it’s worth a $200+ part and an afternoon of fun.

Most actuators are fully serviceable. I saved hundreds by not following this videos advice. I cleaned the little motor in my ‘07 Tacoma actuator and it fixed the problem.

I had the same issue with right front door on my Tundra. I opened the door and triggered the lock in the door jam with a srewdriver. Then I pulled the inside handle, shut the door and now all works as designed. cost - $0.00 and took 1 minute. Try this before putting out money for a new actuator.

Trust me it is an actuator problem. Mine conked out after 6 years. Bought my Scion new in 2014 and had it replaced under warranty.

My 2002 Toyota Camry is doing the opposite. The driver's door lock always locks and unlocks. The 3 passenger door locks work about 60-75% of the time. This is with the remote and the push buttons on the doors. They all work manually. Any idea of what this could be?

if the switch is activating the motor for the actuator, (as you can hear it) isn't it possible that the 2 sheathed cables and 2 linkage rod connection points could be needing lube ??? spray in some triflow/wd40/??

I have a 2015 SR5 Tundra. The Driver and Front passenger doors will NOT lock with the key fab. It doesn't respond. It will only lock manually. No beep either The two back passenger doors do respond to the Key fab of opening and closing. HELP 😢

None of this works on my 1998 Toyota Camry LE. It makes a terrible noise. I actually had it put in after I got it. It was going to cost me more than it did to put it in to replace the auto locks. At Walmart they sell a reset kit. I might try that.

Different locks won't open or close with keyfob when it's super hot outside I think the heat maybe activate gummy gunk maybe in the power lock i.e. dirt etc can I spray something in there in the door handle maybe like white lithium grease or silicone or something that would help it? Thnks

The electronic locks seem to work on my doors but the manual key only locks. I used to feel some resistance when turning to key to lock the driver door. Not anymore though.

I have a different problem on a Toyota Camry. The unlocking works with two remote fobs for all doors. It works with the driver's door key to unlock all doors. It works from the door switches to unlock the doors. However. it does not work to lock the doors with the fob, the switches, or the driver's door key to lock the other doors. I have to manually lock each door, one by one, then I can lock the driver's door with the key. What is causing the power locking to fail on all doors, yet the power unlocking still works?

Try disconnecting the master switch and using the individual switches on the doors try that and get back to me

Try to use the key from the outside to unlock it or the knob from the inside they are separately connected one of them should be able to unlock it. Did you already try that?

All the info was here but the camera movements were very fast and jerky. If you slowed down the camera activities, speak a little slower this would be a very good video. Oh and if you can, show how you disconnected the gold bars from the yellow plastic clips.

What if you don’t hear the beep on the passenger door. I have a 2 door 2004 Solara. DS is fine, but passenger door started working intermittently, then just quit. I don’t know if DCR or actuator or if the DCR is built in the actuator as an all in one unit. Please help!

Sounds like maybe the cable that attatches to the handle popped out if its spot. Try to take the panel off and look at the back of the handle and see

Have 2005 Tundra -Its not the external actuator that's bad, but the latch will not return so it can be closed ,cannot find one (except dealer ) 2006 has internal actuator so wiring plug is different, Note: can close manually be holding handle up and pushing lever back. Internal spring most likely broken -Which is not serviceable .Anybody know of place to get a 2005 0r wiring to convert a 2006.??

Ugh... i have this problem with my rav4 and its only 4 years old. My driver door lock can only be locked/unlocked manually with a key. Electonics wont work but they work on the rest of the car doors. I dont know shit about cars and watching this vid was rocket science to me. Guess ill just suffer with it considering the dealership will charge me an arm and a leg to fix it. :/

Hmm. I bought my Scion brand new in 2014. The problem started manifesting about a month before this pandemic. Took my Scion to the Toyota dealer 2 weeks ago. They had the part ordered and instructed me to bring the car in after a couple of days, and the Toyota service department guys installed the faulty actuator via warranty. Never paid a thing.
