Toyota Prado - Access and repair broken Gear Shift Bushing

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your video to help others, that is very honourable and kind. My wife pulled into our driveway last night and exactly that happened to our 2003 Toyota Prado. I. called Toyota and that individual part has no part number so you have to buy a complete cable kit so I did the ring around. Finally found what I was looking for in a kit but $44 is an absolute rip off although it is cheaper than buying a new vehicle like my wife decided to do last night. By the way I found some coins that were hidden in lint and dust which was a bonus (LOL)

Very cool video, very clear and easy to understand. I don't suppose you have one showing how to access/repair the gear shift position switch and neutral/park position switch for this exact model Prado. Mine is dicky, and so sometimes the ignition key solenoid dies not release the key.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I don't have anything on the gear shift position, haven't had to do that job yet. I'd be researching Toyota forums etc to see if others had the issue. I find those forums full of good info when I need it.

Hi mate, basically there's a springloaded pin at 12:49 that somehow popped out ages ago for me. That pin is a follower and follows the track you see under the gear route cover plate at 06:15. If you have the pin in place, the spring helps the gear stick stay in place when you move it to 3rd - if it ain't there, it won't stay in place. As I couldn't find my pin, I tried making one my lathe, but it didn't sit in the pin hole because the plastic around the seat was cracked due to age I think... so I didn't bother further with it, I can live with it no longer staying in third. Wasn't worth my time trying to rectify it. Hope that helps explain it.
