Man, you are a lifesaver! We are getting ready to pack for a trip in our Pruis V. I was messing around with the latch and managed to get it stuck in this closed position... was trying to pry it open again with a screwdriver to no avail. Finally, thought "I wonder if someone has done a KZbin video about this?"... and here you are. Your solution was spot on. I got my latch unstuck in a matter of seconds.

Super helpful man - was clueless about what to do with this situation on my Mazda 2. One thing worth mentioning - the opening to spring the latch free might be in a different position for different cars.
