I appreciated this video for showing the ins and outs of the key fob and how to handle to the components. However, I would not use an exacto knife to open the fob as its pretty easy to cut yourself. There's easier way to do it. Once you get the back plate with the toyota prius logo off the fob and have taken out the battery, use a flat head screw driver and stick the flat head into the slot where the metal key would go. From there, you can just crank flat head to separate the two key fob halves.

You forgot the Electronic chip (transponder): It is a small chip that communicates with the electronic system of the vehicle. The presence of this chip is necessary to start the vehicle's engine.

I just tried this fearing death the whole time, gave up, went upstaris & used a q-tip soaked in denatured ethanol around the perimeter of the seal, and then popped it open immediately by jamming the lever side of nail clippers down the key holder. Easy Peasy.
